Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a motivated qualified Supply Chain Assistant-Warehouse for our operations in our Mekelle Field Office.


Overall purpose of the role

The Supply Chain Assistant- Warehouse is responsible for day-to-day warehouse inventory and Asset Management for the North Area Mekelle Office. And works closely with other support departments.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

Warehouse Management

  • Ensure that all orders are tracked from the point of planning and request through to final receipt.
  •   Check that all assets, old and new, are properly recorded and tagged.
  • Verify quantity and quality of goods/services against PR/PO and receive. Issue GRN / product receipt for materials purchased offline or through the system.
  • Ensure all asset & equipment Receipt, Registration, Tagging, Storage, Issue, and, where relevant, Disposal Management. The Supply Chain Assistant is responsible for assets, equipment, and inventory while in his/her custody.
  • Ensure cleanliness and proper arrangement of the North Area Office warehouse.
  • Properly handle materials with high care and category sensitivity following DRC warehouse management policy and procedures.
  • Prepare monthly warehouse inventory and asset reports and share them with program and support staff for timely utilization of resources within the warehouse.
  • Identify and report obsolete inventory, assets, and equipment for disposal or maintenance to the Supply Chain Team Leader, Support Services Manager, and the Area Manager.
  • Ensure clear, updated, and dependable Asset, equipment, and inventory records are maintained and archived.
  • Make sure that all staff are responsible and accountable for the effective management of qualitative & compliant asset & equipment management in line with DRC’s & donor guidelines & standards.
  • Ensure, organize, and facilitate regular physical checks of all assets & equipment against the register - at least bi-annually, fully validated, and documented.
  • Perform the physical asset check
  • Overseeing deliveries to and dispatches from DRC warehouses and affecting the necessary documentation.
  •  Maintaining good communications with warehouse staff in other DRC locations and partner organizations
  •  Correctly apply ERP supply chain processes
  • Assist the North area office supply chain team leader

Fleet management

  • Assist with Fleet Management tasks as needed
  • Updating daily vehicle movement schedule and records and assigning all mechanical transport as required.
  • Perform refuelling of rented vehicles and ensure the fuel consumption tracking system, and obtain minimum documentation such as logbook, fuel request approval form, and invoice to settle payment in time.

Experience and technical competencies:

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience, preferably within an INGO.
  •  Excellent IT skills, including experience in operating an ERP supply chain system
  •  Experience in supply chain management, including procurement, transport and distribution, warehouse and stock management
  • Experience with standard procurement procedures and documentation.

 EDUCATION: (include certificates, licenses, etc.)

  • University degree (Diploma or Bachelor) in Supply Chain management, or a relevant field

 LANGUAGE: (indicate Fluency level)

  • English, Afar, Tigrigna & Amharic - Fluency in spoken and in writing

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National employees
