ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE:
Established in 1951, IOM is the leading intergovernmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental and non-governmental partners to promote humane and orderly migration.
The Migration Health Unit of IOM Thailand implements projects that support migrants through health promotion and assistance, as well as health services for crisis affected populations. This includes community outreach, health literacy, disease prevention, linkages to local health services, and support to essential health services for migrants and displaced communities along the Thailand Myanmar border.
The Project Associate will contribute to these areas in Mae Sot by supporting coordination with local government and non-government partners, supporting system strengthening and policy work, assisting with field activities, data and reporting tasks, and carrying out operational functions required for project implementation. The incumbent will work under the overall supervision of the Migration Health Officer and the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator and will support the implementation of Migration Health Unit projects in Mae Sot under the IOM Thailand Country Office.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and liaise at the operational level with local government and non-government migration health stakeholders, including but not limited to provincial and district health authorities, public hospitals, implementing NGOs, civil society organizations, migrant health volunteers, and community structures, to support effective collaboration and field implementation.
Assist in managing partnerships with implementing government, NGOs and civil society organizations by supporting the preparation and follow up of project agreements, workplans, and deliverables.
Support migration health governance and health system strengthening activities by facilitating stakeholder engagement, contributing to consultation processes, and following up on agreed technical and operational actions.
Organize and support coordination meetings and technical forums by scheduling, preparing documents, coordinating participants, and documenting discussions and action points.
Assist with community level health outreach activities, including mobilization, awareness sessions, and direct assistance to migrant populations as relevant to project objectives.
Travel to project implementation areas to support monitoring visits, activity implementation, consultations, and organization of field events.
Assist Disease Surveillance Teams and implementing partners in preparing and carrying out health activities among migrant and crisis affected communities.
Support capacity building activities for government counterparts, NGOs, community partners, and health volunteers, including logistics, coordination, and documentation.
Record, compile, and organize relevant migration health data and field information to support monitoring, reporting, and research activities.
Assist the Project Coordinator and Project Manager with donor reporting by collecting updates from implementing partners and reviewing narrative and financial reports, and provide operational and administrative support to policy-related meetings, , migration health research, and project implementation.
Support project operational and administrative processes, including delivery of materials, liaison with Procurement, Finance, HR, and Operations, and preparing documents such as Advance Payments, Travel Requests, Purchase Requisitions, and Payment Requests.
Provide informal translation between English and Thai for documents and communications, support culturally appropriate tools for community engagement and health promotion and perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field (such as public health, nursing, medical technology, community health, environmental health, or other health sciences) from an accredited academic institution, with at least three years of relevant working experience, or
- School diploma with five years of relevant experience.
- Experience in public health project implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
- Experience working with government partners, NGOs, or community groups in health, migration, or humanitarian settings is a strong asset.
- Experience in coordination, stakeholder engagement, and community outreach in migrant or border settings is desirable.
- Experience working in the area of policy engagement, system strengthening initiatives, or operational research is an advantage.
- Experience in supporting coordination platforms, such as working groups or multi-stakeholder meetings.
- Experience assisting in basic data tasks (e.g., compiling activity information, organizing field data).
- Prior involvement in capacity-building activities (e.g., helping organize trainings or outreach sessions).
Excellent writing, communication and analytical skills
Strong organizational, coordination and time management skills and ability to produce quality work to set deadlines

Computer literacy
- Fluency in Thai and English (oral and written) is required.
