Job Description
The position assists in managing day-to-day implementing programme activities, coordinate with local stakeholders, prepare programme Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials tailored to the local context, facilitate community events and trainings, and follow up on community mitigation projects in the areas of food security, WASH, and emergency shelter throughout the Republic of Palau.
Responsibilities
Assist in coordinating, implementing, monitoring, and contributing inputs to reporting on programme activities in accordance with the approved workplan, with attention to project timelines and delivery of outputs.
Prepare and submit required administrative forms and documentation for the implementation of programme activities, including requests for payments, travel authorizations, and procurement actions, in line with IOM procedures.
Liaise with government counterparts, community leaders, and partner organizations, as required, to facilitate the implementation of project activities and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
Collect and verify documentation and data from field activities, including attendance sheets, photo documentation, logbooks, location data, and other inputs required for community-based disaster risk management (CBDRM) and mitigation projects.
Assist in the logistical planning and facilitation of community-based activities such as workshops, trainings, and focus group discussions, including dissemination of agreed key messages on hazards and disaster risk reduction (DRR) strategies.
Contribute to the preparation and dissemination of public information materials on hazards, emergency preparedness, and DRR strategies, in coordination with the Programme Manager and in line with internal clearance procedures.
Apply IOM and donor visibility and branding guidelines on key programme materials, equipment, and during events.
Monitor relevant hazard updates and provide logistical and operational support during emergency preparedness or response activities, under the guidance of the Programme Manager.
Support the preparation of background information and draft inputs for concept notes, proposals, and reports related to emergency preparedness and disaster risk reduction.
Adhere to IOM’s policies and procedures, including those related to prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA), data protection, and promotion of a respectful and inclusive work environment.
Be willing to travel within Palau, as required, to support programme implementation, subject to prior approval from the supervisor and the Chief of Mission.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education, communications, liberal arts, public administration/policy, public health or crisis management or related fields from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience.
High school diploma with six years of relevant work experience.
