As Centre Head, you will lead high-impact innovation projects, foster collaboration between central banks, academia, and the private sector, and translate bold ideas into practical, trusted public goods.Your leadership will help define how advanced technologies—such as AI or tokenization—can serve the public interest by helping central banksfulfilltheir statutory mandates.

Principal accountabilities:

Support Shaping the Strategic Direction of the BIS Innovation Hub

·       Support the Head of the Innovation Hub in implementing the Hub strategy defined by BIS Management.

·       Identify technological topics of interest for research, experimentation or potential development which are consistent with the mandate of the Innovation Hub and its strategy and are of interest to the community of central banks and financial authorities.

·       Lead and find creative initiatives to enrich and add value toparticipatingcentral banks that fosters increased knowledge and skills, sharing of best practices and collaboration.

·       Represent the BIS, or ensure that it is adequately represented, at relevant conferences and events in the region.

Deliver Meaningful Innovation Projects and Successfully Run a Centre

·       Select and scope projects for deeper understanding and present the successful proposals for approval.

·       Closelymonitorperformance of projects in relation toobjectives, regularly reassess progress and adapt as needed to ensure concrete outcomes, high-qualitydeliveryand an efficient allocation of resources across the BIS Innovation Hub.

·       Effectively manage operations of the Centre in close collaboration with host central banks.

·       Support the efforts of the Strategy and Operations area to effectively coordinate the Centre’s activities with those led from other Centresin order toexploit synergies across the BIS Innovation Hub.

 Inspire and Lead a High-Performing Team

·       Lead a teamof approximately 10 experts in technology, data, and central banking.The team executes projects aimed at enhancing knowledge in areas crucial to central banks, with a focus on developing potential global public goods in the technology space demanded by central banks

·       Support the Centre’s continued development of expert knowledge on innovative technologies related to the work of the Hub and actively encourage the sharing of insights.

·       Provide leadership and direction to staff promoting functional excellence and continuous improvement. Develop and strengthen internal talent.

 Build and Strengthen Key Partnerships

·       Build a regional network of central bank experts on innovation and interconnect them with the global network of the BISIH and promote exchange of views and knowledge-sharing.

·       Actively engage with counterparts in academia, the private sector and FinTech community in the region.

·       Support the relationship with international organisations, BIS committees, and standard-setting bodies to develop andmaintainstrong and collaborative relationships under the coordination of the head of the Innovation Hub.

·       Build a local and regional network of experts, thought-leaders, academics and innovators to learn from, promote the work of the Centre, seek advice and input and to foster potential collaboration.

The successful candidates will have:

 ·       More than 5 years of relevant high-level work experience within the financial industry, preferably in contact with financial market infrastructures or central banking.

·       Experience in monetary policy, financial stability analysis and/or understanding of public policy issues.

·       Sound knowledge of financial technologiesand their implications for the global financial system.

·       Experience in leading innovative technology and data projects

·      Backgroundknowledge or exposure to technologies such as AI and tokenisation is desirable.

·       Strong leadership skills with proven ability to lead high-performance, multi-disciplinary teams to execute complex projects.

·       Strong teamwork features with high-achieving, creative colleagues.

·       Excellent conceptual and analytical skills and ability to apply creative and innovative thinking to solve complex problems.

·       Excellent ability to communicate complex topics to different audiences.

·       Previous experience interacting with central bank senior officials would be an advantage.

·       Track record of effective business and resource management.
