Intern Humanitarian Directorate* 

in Bonn

You can start your internship at Welthungerhilfe from February/March 2026. It should be a compulsory internship with part-time employment over a period of 6 months. Employment location will be Bonn, Germany. Mobile work within Germany is possible in agreement with your team. 100% mobile work is not possible. 

The WHH Humanitarian Directorate aims to ensure a fast, effective and adequate response to humanitarian crises and disasters and to ensure that WHH is recognized nationally and internationally as an exemplary and competent actor. As an intern you will gain broad insights into our humanitarian work and become familiar with some of Welthungerhilfe’s diverse areas of activities.

Your responsibilities

  • Support the Humanitarian Directorate in humanitarian operations including emergency preparedness & response planning, emergency response, crisis monitoring, assessment and analysis for action
  • Support the Humanitarian Directorate in strategic humanitarian program such as Anticipatory Action, strategic pre-positioning, humanitarian localization
  • Assist relevant Humanitarian Directorate colleagues in their support to country program in different contexts and countries
  • Design and compose thematic intranet areas on specific topics in cooperation with thematic experts
  • Support in visualizing content relevant for humanitarian crisis
  • Conduct research on different humanitarian topics and prepare reports and briefings for internal and external use
  • Assist in developing humanitarian concepts and strategies
  • Prepare and support in organization and administration of meetings, conferences and other events

Your profile

  • Matriculated at university during the whole time of the internship; ideally obtaining a degree in humanitarian action studies or related fields
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Preferably knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint; other tools (GIS, PowerBI)
  • Ability to easily familiarize oneself with new topics and work independently
  • Strong communication skills and joy to liaise with others
  • Strong intercultural competence
  • Excellent spoken and written English; German and/or French language skills are desired
