About this position
We are looking for a highly skilled, strategic, and collaborative Private Sector Dialogue Consultant. As the Private Sector Dialogue Consultant, you will support the transformation of public–private dialogue into operational mechanisms, strengthen engagement with private sector stakeholders, and advance initiatives related to trade integration across the region. You will work in the Private Sector, Synergies, and Trade Unit (PST), part of the Productivity, Trade, and Innovation (PTI) sector. PTI/PST leads initiatives to boost trade, improve the business climate, and strengthen private sector engagement in the PTI and IDB Group agendas. It also promotes trade integration and coordinates strategic synergies among PTI, IDB Invest, IDB Lab, and private sector stakeholders.
What you’ll do
The consultant will carry out the necessary activities to achieve the objectives described above, which will include at minimum:

Preparing a work plan and a schedule of activities for the execution of tasks within the consultancy framework.

Contributing to the transformation of public-private dialogue into a more operational process with tangible outcomes, by identifying bottlenecks, designing follow-up mechanisms, and promoting actions that generate traction in the implementation of joint initiatives.

Designing and executing strategies to generate impact with key private sector stakeholders and other strategic partners, strengthening the unit’s collaboration networks. This will involve identifying priority actors, proposing differentiated engagement approaches, and supporting the implementation of joint initiatives that reinforce the IDB’s legitimacy and positioning.

Deepening actions within the trade integration agenda with the private sector, providing analysis and specific recommendations to strengthen regional integration processes. The consultant is expected to contribute specialized knowledge in trade, investment, and strategic partnerships, as well as propose activities that increase Caribbean participation in the regional agenda.

Supporting the systematization of the methodology for organizing the unit’s forums, documenting best practices and proposing standards to ensure consistency, efficiency, and sustainability in the planning and execution of future events.

Assisting in the preparation and coordination of outreach activities, forums, and high-level events, including agenda setting, preparation of strategic content, coordination with partners, and logistical management to ensure the success of these initiatives.

Developing strategic inputs for PST, including briefings, concept notes, speeches, executive presentations, progress reports, and strategic reports. These deliverables must be tailored to different audiences and respond to management needs, ensuring technical quality, clarity, and timely delivery.
What you'll need
• Education: Master's Degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in international relations, public policy, enviromental science, engineering, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
• Experience: At least 5 years of progressive experience in development projects, preferably with a background in the private sector, trade integration, and public-private dialogue in the region.
• Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

Type of contract and duration
International consultant Full-Time, 15 months (up to 48 months).
