CIMMYT is looking for an outstanding, self-motivated, and result-oriented professional for the position of HR Coordinator (HRBP) to work in the Global Mobility area of the Human Resources department. The HR Coordinator (HRBP) will support Global Mobility and Internationally Recruited Staff (IRS), providing strategic HR advisory services and end-to-end HR operational support. The role requires a proactive professional with strong international HR expertise, capable of partnering with leaders and managing complex employee relations in a global context and act as a trusted advisor to leaders and staff, ensuring an excellent employee experience while supporting organizational goals in a diverse, international environment.

The location of this position will be CIMMYT’s headquarters in Texcoco, near Mexico City.

Key responsibilities:

  • Strategic HR Partnerships and Global Mobility
    • Act as a trusted HR Business Partner to program leaders, aligning staffing strategies with organizational goals and promoting internal and global mobility solutions.
    • Provide strategic advice on workforce planning, talent development, and organizational design to ensure optimal deployment of internationally recruited staff.
    • Analyze trends and HR metrics related to IRS to support data-driven decisions and continuous improvement.
    • Drive change management initiatives to support organizational transformation and cultural alignment.
    • Mentor managers on HR systems, performance management, and staff engagement best practices.
    • Foster strong, trust-based relationships with international staff, promoting inclusion, engagement, and retention.
    • Monitor and support performance improvement plans with empathy, discretion, and professionalism.
    • Offer expert guidance on HR policies and procedures tailored to international contexts; recommend improvements where necessary.
    • Collaborate with Compensation & Benefits and Talent Management to design competitive employment conditions and development programs that attract and retain top global talent.
    • Champion staff wellness initiatives that promote holistic well-being.
    • Ensure timely and accurate execution of tasks delegated by the Global Mobility Manager.
  • HRBP Advisory & Employee Relations
    •  Serve as a strategic advisor for complex employee relations issues, ensuring fair and consistent resolution aligned with organizational values.
    • Partner with managers to proactively address workforce challenges, and support Talent Management initiatives with the Talent function where required, including but not limited to performance-related issues and individual development plans.
    • Facilitate feedback loops between staff and leadership to strengthen engagement and retention.
    • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives across international teams.
  • IRS Administration & Operational Excellence
    • Manage end-to-end HR administrative services for IRS and consultants, ensuring a seamless experience throughout the employment lifecycle.
    • Draft and issue employment contract offer letters and compensation-related documentation.
    • Lead onboarding efforts, ensuring new hires feel welcomed, informed, and supported.
    • Serve as a trusted point of contact for new employees, addressing concerns and facilitating smooth transitions.
    • Coordinate relocation logistics and support staff throughout the process.
    • Ensure accurate insurance enrollment for staff and dependents.
    • Maintain up-to-date and accurate records in the HR Information System.
    • Monitor integration of new hires and proactively address challenges.
    • Ensure compliance with HR policies and international labor regulations.
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of IRS-related policies and processes.
    • Provide administrative and organizational support to the IRS HR team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, International HR, Business Administration, International Relations, Law, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an HR Business Partner or similar strategic HR role.
  • Deep understanding of onboarding best practices and international HR operations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Ability to interpret HR metrics and provide actionable insights.
  • Experience in change management and organizational development.
  • Advanced level of English (written and conversational). English will be tested, and candidate should score a minimum of C1 on CEFR.
