About the RoleDigital Technology Solutions & Strategy (DTSS) is seeking a solution-oriented and technically hands-on Senior Manager, Application Architect to guide the design, integration, and evolution of Gaviâs core business applications. This role focuses on the architectural integrity and interoperability of key platforms including SAP (S/4HANA), Microsoft 365 and Salesforce. The Application Architect helps ensure that platform related capabilitiesâboth functional and technicalâare well-aligned with business needs, technical best practices, and cross-platform integration requirements. The Application Architect collaborates closely with the enterprise architect, other application architects, platform & product owners, technical leads, and vendors to ensure that applications are well-designed, secure, performant, and adaptable. 2. Key ResponsibilitiesApplication Design & Architecture
- Design scalable, secure, and supportable solutions across core applications, with particular attention to SAP (S/4HANA) architecture, configuration boundaries, and extensibility options, as well as Microsoft 365 and Salesforce.
- Translate functional and business requirements into application-level designs and technical specifications.
- Ensure application design aligns with platform standards, best practices, integration patterns, and security principles.
Integration & Interoperability
- Define and oversee application-to-application integrations, including data flows and process orchestration involving SAP, Salesforce, M365, and third-party systems.
- Collaborate with integration teams to implement solutions using middleware or APIs.
- Ensure seamless user experience and data consistency across platforms.
Solution Development Support
- Serve as the lead technical architect during application-related projects or enhancements.
- Review solution proposals and configuration plans from vendors and internal teams to ensure quality and architectural integrity.
- Support delivery teams with architecture diagrams, design reviews, and technical mentoring.
Technical Governance & Documentation
- Maintain up-to-date application architecture documentation and platform design assets, including architecture artifacts.
- Contribute to internal guidelines on application development, customization, and integration standards.
- Support platform lifecycle management by advising on upgrades, roadmap alignment, and deprecation planning.
Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with DTSS colleagues (infrastructure, cybersecurity, support, etc) to ensure cross-functional alignment.
- Provide architectural input during vendor selection and manage technical aspects of third-party solution implementation.
- Contribute to problem-solving and root cause analysis for complex application issues.
- Other duties and responsibilities as required.
3. Your Experience and SkillsAcademic
- Bachelorâs degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline (or equivalent experience). Masters preferred.
Work Experience
- Typically 8 to 12 years of experience in application architecture or solution design roles is required.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA (functional and/or technical) is essential, with additional experience in Microsoft 365 or Salesforce ideal.
- Experience designing application solutions within a complex, multi-platform environment is required.
- Experience working with both internal development teams and external solution vendors is required.
Technical Skills
- Excellent understanding of platform capabilities and constraints (e.g., SAP modules, integration points, extension models (e.g. BTP), customization boundaries, Salesforce automation, M365 extensibility) is required.
- Experience designing or supporting integrations via APIs, middleware, or native connectors is essential.
- Familiarity with application security principles, performance optimization, and data governance considerations is essential.
- Experience working with Agile or hybrid development methodologies is desired.
Collaboration & Communication
- Able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and act as a bridge between business and technology teams.
- Comfortable reviewing technical proposals, leading design sessions, and supporting implementation efforts.
- Collaborative and consultative mindset with a focus on practical, user-centered design.
Languages
- Written and spoken fluency in English.
- French is an asset.
