About the job

The Anticipatory Action Project Manager role is responsible for the overall management of DRC’s anticipatory action project in Abyei, ensuring timely, effective, and high-quality implementation. The position supports the development of new anticipatory action initiatives, including project design, planning, and resource mobilization.

The role includes line management of the project team, strong coordination with other DRC sectors and projects operating in the same geographic area, and active representation of DRC with local stakeholders, authorities, partners, and national-level coordination platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Management & Implementation: Lead day-to-day project delivery, ensuring activities are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards. Coordinate closely with support departments (Finance, Supply Chain, HR, MEAL, Security), manage risks, and conduct regular field monitoring.
  • Financial Management & Reporting: Oversee budget management, forecasting, expenditure tracking, and financial controls. Ensure accurate and timely narrative and financial reporting in line with donor and internal requirements.
  • Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning (MEAL): Ensure reliable data collection, performance tracking, analysis of results, and continuous improvement. Support learning documentation, success stories, and visibility materials.
  • Team Leadership & Capacity Building: Line-manage project staff, provide coaching and performance management, support staff development, ensure adequate staffing and operational resources, and promote staff well-being.
  • Programme Development & Strategy: Contribute to proposal development, budgeting, needs assessments, donor engagement, and strategic learning. Identify opportunities for innovation and programme expansion.
  • Coordination & Internal Integration: Strengthen collaboration with other DRC projects and departments to ensure alignment, efficiency, and shared learning.
  • Representation & External Engagement: Represent DRC in local coordination forums and support national-level engagement with authorities, partners, donors, and community stakeholders.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Line Manager.

Required

  • Education:
    Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred) in Peace/Security, Social Sciences, International Development, Business Management, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • 3–5 years of experience managing humanitarian, development, and/or peacebuilding projects in complex or fragile contexts, including team management.
  • Strong experience in project cycle management, including proposal development, budget management, and donor reporting.
  • Solid understanding of finance and supply chain processes.
  • Previous experience in protection, peacebuilding, community-based approaches, conflict sensitivity, and/or conflict analysis is highly desirable.
  • Experience in qualitative data collection and analysis.
