Scope of HFM
Healthcare Facilities management (HFM) is a pillar of hospital management. Its core role is ensuring the fit for purpose of the physical infrastructure (i.e. buildings, HVAC systems, electrical systems, elevators and lifts, plumbing) and the efficient management of specific non-medical services and processes (e.g. laundry, catering/kitchen, environmental cleaning).
It is also a key component for matters related to safety and contingency planning (e.g. electricity backup, emergency preparedness). It plays a crucial role in the design of health structures (during emergency response but also during the master planning of secondary healthcare structures).
HFM is a highly transversal domain that intersects with multiple disciplines represented in the organization by technical advisors (Construction, Energy, Biomed, Lab, WatSan, IPC but also other medical disciplines).

Knowledge Management: Maintain and update the HFM knowledge repository and website, ensuring it serves as a reliable reference for country program staff. Foster a community of specialists through regular webinars and a community of practice.
Staff Development: Support HRM in maintaining a pool of specialized logistics staff by assisting in staff selection. Empower country program teams through training, mentoring, and contributions to educational programs.
