UNCDF aims to ‘Leave no one behind in the digital era’. This strategy is based on over a decade of experience in digital finance in Africa, Asia and the Pacific. UNCDF recognizes that reaching the full potential of digital financial inclusion in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aligns with the vision of promoting digital economies that leave no one behind. The vision of UNCDF is to empower millions of people by 2024 to use services daily that leverage innovation and technology and contribute to the SDGs.

Context

As per its Strategic Framework, United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) works to deploy its functions as a hybrid development organization and development finance institution. The United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) responds to Member States requests for assistance by providing targeted technical and financial advisory services on investments for development outcomes, designing bespoke financial structuring solutions, undertaking financial decisions of investments, and enhancing investment readiness of SDG aligned projects in partnership with private sector, UNOs, International and Local Finance Institutions, Development Finance Institutions as well as Foundations and Philanthropy, among others. financial systems, new markets and mobilize and crowd in capital from public and private sources.

The United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF)'s structure includes within the IID, a Strategic Funds Unit (SFU) augment its capacity to augment its capacity to
deploy grants, loans, and guarantees to crowd-in finance for the scaling of development impact. The SFU is dedicated to developing and overseeing trust funds, in partnership with UN agencies and other partners, that deploy blended finance approaches to leverage investment and sustainable revenue streams to mobilize capital at scale, expand pipelines of investable solutions, and strengthen alignment with global climate, biodiversity, and SDG commitments. The SFU provides integrated secretariat services from its liaison office in Geneva Switzerland.

To facilitate the achievement of these objectives, the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) is seeking a Trust Fund Coordination Officer. Working under the direct oversight of the Deputy Manager, the selected volunteer will provide day-to-day support to ensure the smooth execution of governance, operational, and logistical functions across the strategic trust funds in which the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) is engaged.

Task description

Under the direct supervision of Deputy Manager, Trust Funds Coordination Officer will provide day-to-day support to ensure smooth execution of governance, operational, and logistical functions. Specific tasks include:

• Governing bodies support: Assist in planning meetings, preparing agendas and technical materials, drafting communications, producing minutes, and supporting the preparation of decisions and updates for governing bodies, donors, and partners.

• Fund operations: Support day-to-day logistical processes, HR actions, and budget-related tasks, helping ensure that fund operations run efficiently and in line with the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) procedures.

• Reporting: Support the coordination, drafting, and consolidation of programme-, donor-, and fund-level reporting across partners.

• Document and File Management: Ensure organized management of files, documents, and
key materials.

Results/Expected Outputs:

• Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment

• A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed

Learning expectations:

Learning and development are a central part of the UN Youth Volunteer’s assignment and take place before, during and after his or her assignment in the field. Ideally, offering diverse opportunities for learning and development aim to strengthen the volunteer’s skills and competences, improve the quality of the assignment and keep the volunteer’s motivation high.

Learning elements for the UN Youth Volunteer include the development of:

• Professional skills: including specific competencies and reflection on assignment-related abilities; and on-the-job skills such as interview time management, interview preparation, problem solving, team building; and career preparedness such as interview skills, job searching;

• Inter-personal skills: including communication and listening skills; multi-cultural awareness and cultural competency; and conflict and stress management.

• Volunteering-related skills: including leadership; civic responsibility; and engagement and active participation.

Beyond the learning opportunities provided by UNV, UNCDF will support knowledge and capacity development in the technical areas that are relevant to the UN Youth Volunteer’s assignment. UNCDF will provide, at its expense, UN Youth Volunteers with equal opportunity to participate in training courses and workshops offered to its personnel.
