Position Summary

The Donor Prospect Researcher & Analyst supports the Global Philanthropy team by conducting research, analysis and reporting to inform engagement, cultivation and stewardship strategies for major and deferred giving prospects. This position collaborates with the fundraising team on portfolio management and relationship strategy support, ongoing portfolio review and ensures CRM data and reporting is accurate and timely.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and qualify potential major gift and deferred giving donors by researching individuals and private family foundations using databases, public records, and other sources.
  • Analyze wealth indicators and philanthropic history to assess giving capacity, interests, and likelihood of support.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive donor profiles with accurate, confidential information for use by fundraising teams and leadership.
  • Prepare detailed reports and briefings to support cultivation strategies and donor engagement activities.
  • Provide insights to development team to prioritize and cultivate top prospects in order to maximize fundraising opportunities and meet or exceed annual goals.
  • Ensure ethical and legal compliance in all research activities while maintaining data accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Serves as expert in prospective research for Global Philanthropy team, keeping current on industry trends and best practices.
  • Accurate and timely maintenance of donor records in Dynamics.

Personal Characteristics & Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience required in prospect research, fundraising and development; or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of best practices and current trends in prospect development and research, major, individual and planned giving.
  • Strong analytical skills and effective time management.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics or equivalent constituent record database. Advanced Excel knowledge highly desired.
  • Advanced knowledge with internet search strategies and experience using research databases such as iWave and DonorSearch.
  • Demonstrated ability to retrieve, manipulate, analyze, and synthesize information gathered from a variety of sources.
  • An aptitude for critical thinking and problem solving, with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and tact.
