The Bank for International Settlements, BIS is hiring a Back Office Officer in the Banking – Back Office department of the Representative Office for the Americas in Mexico City.
Our Representative Offices in Mexico and Hong Kong serve as centres for BIS activities in their respective regions, strengthening relations and promoting cooperation between the BIS and regional central banks and supervisory authorities. To that end, the two offices foster the exchange of information and data, facilitate the organisation of meetings and seminars, contribute to the Bank's financial and economic research on the Americas and Asia and the Pacific and provide the full suite of BIS’s banking services for regional central banks.

This job is available as three years fixed term.

Purpose of the job:
Our mission is to support central banks' pursuit of monetary and financial stability through international cooperation, and to act as a bank for central banks.
You will contribute to this mission by:
- Working on transactional Back Office tasks, as well as contributing to various stages of projects or continuous improvement initiatives.
- Working on various processes and protocols, ensuring conformity with best market practices and compliance rules.
By joining the Back Office Operations team, you will:
- Become familiar with a broad range of products, processes, and systems in the operations environment.
- Be part of a team with high impact responsibilities in processing, confirming, validating transactions and payments.

Principal Accountabilities:
- Validation and confirmation of trades, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of confirmations, settlements, and payments.
- Resolve exceptions for all non-standard and complex operations for bonds, money market, FX and derivatives instruments.
- Create, check and maintain instrument definitions in the trading system.
- Investigate and resolve issues together with front office, custodians, and customers.
- Involvement in settlement instructions maintenance process.
Qualifications, skills, and experience:
- Proven Banking Back Office experience and good knowledge of Banking instruments, market practice and new initiatives in the banking / financial industry.
- Experience in Swift messaging formats, including payments and confirmations messages.
- Knowledge of Bloomberg information systems.
- Flexible, collaborative and excellent team player.
- Good organizational skills with the ability to work to deadlines.
- Customer-focused with good communication skills.
- Proficiency in English. Knowledge of German, Italian or French desirable.
