Mission and objectives
The UN Technology Bank became operational in 2018 and serves the 45 least developed countries (LDCs) and former least developed countries for up to five years after their graduation from the category.
The UN Technology Bank supports national and regional technological efforts, reinforces partnerships across sectors and helps nations identify and use appropriate technologies to transform their economies and improve livelihoods.
Headquartered in Gebze, Turkey, the UN Technology Bank actively engages with national, regional and international partners to deliver its programme and projects helps least developed countries build the science, technology and innovation capacity that they need to promote the structural transformation of their economies, eradicate poverty and foster sustainable development.

Context
The International UN Volunteer will provide substantive, analytical, and coordination support to the operationalization of the UN Technology Bank’s Knowledge Services pillar, contributing to the implementation of the Knowledge Management Strategy and the positioning of the Technology Bank as a global hub for STI knowledge for LDCs.
Task description
Under the direct supervision of the Economic Affairs Officer, the UN Volunteer will:
• Support the operationalization and continuous improvement of the STI Knowledge Hub, by contributing to content development, data integration and quality assurance, with particular attention to incorporating findings from Technology Needs Assessments (TNAs) and programme activities.
• Contribute to the implementation of the Knowledge Management Strategy across programmes, supporting internal knowledge capture, documentation, curation and dissemination processes to ensure that evidence and lessons learned inform policy dialogue and programme design.
• Assist in the development of workflows, templates and guidance to support systematic knowledge collection, tagging and reuse across the Technology Bank’s research, capacity-building and advisory activities.
• Support the mapping, development and continuous updating of a global STI knowledge network linking LDC institutions, centres of excellence, universities, research institutes, private sector actors and technical experts relevant to LDC priorities.
• Contribute to the establishment and animation of peer networks of STI focal points in LDCs, supporting structured knowledge exchange, expert referrals and peer learning.
• Support the design, launch and facilitation of Communities of Practice, particularly in areas such as digital transformation, agritech and health innovation, to promote South–South and triangular cooperation.
• Contribute to the development of knowledge products, including background research, data collection, case studies and analytical inputs for the planned STI Flagship Report and thematic publications.
• Support the preparation of policy-relevant briefs, synthesis notes and knowledge summaries that translate evidence from LDCs into actionable insights for policymakers and development partners.
• Assist in documenting good practices, lessons learned and emerging trends from programme implementation to strengthen institutional learning and external knowledge sharing.
• Support knowledge-based communication and outreach activities linked to the Knowledge Hub, including webinars, policy dialogues and digital content, ensuring that knowledge generated by and for LDCs is widely disseminated.
• Support monitoring of outputs and results related to Knowledge Services activities, including tracking indicators on network engagement, knowledge products and platform use.
• Contribute to internal reporting, progress updates and briefing materials for senior management and partners related to the Knowledge Services pillar.
• Provide ad hoc analytical and coordination support to senior management and programme team to ensure effective integration of knowledge services across the Technology Bank’s work.
• Performs other duties as required.
