ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT:
The incumbent will be responsible for designing, supervising and implementing WFP’s livelihoods and resilience projects under the supervision of Baghdad Field Office management, and technical guidance and support from the Resilience and Livelihoods unit in the Country Office, and overall guidance from Head of Programme.
JOB PURPOSE:
The Programme Associate will provide design and implement the resilience and livelihood activities in both urban and rural settings in the designated area(s) of responsibility under climate and environmental aspects.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contributing to the implementation of WFP Policies, standards, norms and practices ensuring compliance with wider WFP policies, procedures, guidelines and operations.
Design and implementation of project proposal related to climate change, environmental aspects, resilience and livelihoods.
support the formulation and implementation of climate change adaptation and mitigation activities for the center region.
Synthesizing available body of evidence and commissioning new evidence for informed programme design and implementation.
Identifying and developing partnerships with key stakeholders including private sector, UN agencies and academia.
Tracking the progress of implementation, achievements, and budget utilization.
Create and track administrative documents that support project implementation such as Purchase requests, Purchase Orders, financial settlements… etc
Collect, collate, analyse, verify and disseminate climate change knowledge, information and key vulnerable hotspots in the south.
Monitor, evaluation, and reporting progress of climate change programmes and activities to internal and external stakeholders.
Promote innovations for building target beneficiaries’ resilience to climate change shocks and stressors.
Identifying gaps/entry points for capacity building for Field Office staff and partners.
Supporting the coordination with partner and local relevant authorities to ensure projects design and implementation as per the on-ground need.
Conduct field missions/visits to achieve all the above-mentioned tasks and duties, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor degree in Ecology, Agronomy, Biology Social Sciences, and any other relevant field. Bachelor’s degree with minimum of 6 years relevant work experience.
Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic required. Knowledge of Kurdish or a second UN language is desirable.
DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE
Has technical knowledge and practical experience in environment, climate, resilience and livelihood-related projects.
Has experience working with Governmental technical counterparts.
Has worked extensively in tasks that involved relationship building and community engagement.
Has expertise in grant and proposal writing in English.
