2026 Graduate Internship Programme– Cybersecurity Governance and Assurance 

The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is looking for recent graduates to join our 2026 Graduate Internship Programme. This programme will allow you to use the knowledge you gained during your studies in a professional environment. Purpose of the role:

As amember oftheCybersecurity Governance and Assurance unit, you will play a key role in protecting the organisation’s digital assets. This internship offers hands-on experience incybersecurity governance, risk management, and compliance. You will contribute to reviewing, updating, and enhancing security policies and standards, aligning them with industry best practices such as CIS benchmarks and the NIST CSF. This is your opportunity to launch a career in cybersecurity while developing both technical and professional skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Governance and Assurance team toidentifyopportunities for improvement andpropose innovative, modern approaches to enhance efficiency.

  • Lead an automation initiativewithin a selected area of the team’s processes to streamline operations.

  • Research the potential application of AI/ML technologiesand propose concepts to support the Governance and Assurance function.

  • Contribute to critical cybersecurity initiatives,such as risk management, security awareness training, baseline security configuration, second-line monitoring, and data protection.

  • Assistin implementing the 3 Lines of Defence (3LoD)risk management model for Cyber Risk.

Requirements:

  • A university degree in computer science, information security, IT, or a related fieldwith a graduation year of 2025 or 2026. 

  • Strong interest in cybersecurity, process improvement, and research.

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST CSF, CIS Benchmarks).

  • Basic understanding of risk management concepts and processes.

  • Knowledge of operating system security, application security, or cloud technologies.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • A collaborative and proactive team player.

What we offer:

We offer a 11-month contract with a monthly allowance of 3800 CHF plus health and accident insurance coverage for the duration of the contract.Additionalbenefits depend on your principal domicile.
