Job Purpose/Objective
Remote Learning Teacher facilitates remote learning and dissemination of child protection messages to enhance child safety during school disruptions following a climate event in Garissa/Tana Rivers counties. This is a temporary assignment appointment lasting 6-8 weeks. They guide parents, caregivers and learners on how to access educational material on digital devices such as mobile phones. They create a safe and enabling environment that is engaging, stimulating and inclusive for the learners to support activity-based learning outside the school and report any cases of child rights violations they come across. They help learners connect with school and re-integrate to school learning m after the crisis.
Remote Learning
Initiate phone calls and deliver individualized (one‑to‑one) learning sessions to targeted learners. Assess learning progress and tailor lesson delivery accordingly. Provide follow‑up support on digital (IVR) lessons, including clarification where needed such as responding to simple learning queries following IVR lesson delivery. Collate learner feedback on IVR lesson challenges to inform live virtual sessions. Conduct live virtual lesson classes to address feedback and problems areas on IVR lessons
Community engagement
Disseminate information on remote learning through public and social gatherings Provide guidance to learners and caregivers/parents on how to use/access digital platforms such as mobile phones to obtain remote learning materials on a need basis. Disseminate messages on child-rights, child safety and referral/support mechanisms in the event of child abuse/exploitation.
Monitoring and Reporting
Flag dropout or protection risks and support reintegration upon return to school Support in following up the identified CP cases for referral and continued support at the community level
Coordination and collaboration
Works closely with school head teachers Also works closely with PGI on client feedback ensuring community feedback mechanisms are understood by the community and any feedback reaches the client promoting accountability to affected persons within the project
Required Qualifications:
Teachers Service Commission - registered P1 teacher with a preference in English and Mathematics learning areas Relevant experience in teaching, coaching or community facilitation Knowledge and experience on child rights, child protection, safeguarding and referral pathway Strong written and oral skills to clearly articulate objectives, expectations, and feedback Excellent time management skills to manage time for group sessions, individual coaching, and administrative tasks.
