Responsibilities
Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Brazil is implementing various projects addressing the protection, assistance, and integration needs of migrants, refugees and other vulnerable populations in Brazil. IOM recognizes the importance of accurate and timely information to foster adequate programming and ensure accountability to affected population, donors and governments.
Under the direct supervision of the National Project Officer, in Boa Vista, and in coordination with the Communications team in the national office, in Brasília, the selected candidate is expected to produce compelling and engaging communication and advocacy content for web and print, including press releases and notes, briefings, presentations, speeches, reports, social media content, photos, infographics and posters. The candidate will contribute to the implementation of creative communication strategies.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
1. Support the production and publication of public and internal information – press releases and notes, briefings, quality photographs and audiovisual material – on IOM activities in the North Region, in coordination with the national office in Brasilia.
2. Support content production for IOM social media (X, Instagram, YouTube, Whatsapp, and Facebook)
3. Support media and communication trainings for field teams, in coordination with the national office in Brasília, DF.
4. Support media relations activities.
5. Support the updating of the database of national and international journalists.
6. Support the production of campaigns against xenophobia and to promote social integration between migrants and local society.
7. Provides overall support with research and fact-checking to produce communication material.
8. Represent the IOM Communications team at the Communications Group of Operação Acolhida in Boa Vista.
9. Text editing and reporting support for IOM local reports.
10. Establish and maintain an up-to-date repository file for communication materials including publications, press releases, clipping, photographs, audio and visual products.
11. Capture images.
12. Coverage of online and in-person conferences, meetings, workshops, seminars, and other events.
13. Perform administrative tasks related to Communication.
14. Perform any other duties as may be needed.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Experience
EDUCATION
- High School diploma with 03 years of relevant professional experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Communication or related fields from an accredited academic institution with 01 year of relevant professional experience
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience in Communication.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and under pressure.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to prepare clear and concise products.
Languages
IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.
REQUIRED
For this position, fluency in Portuguese and Spanish (working knowledge) is required (oral and written).
DESIRABLE
Enlgish is desirable.
