About this position
We are seeking a top-notch, strategic thinker and highly motivated professional to join our team as a Marketing and Communications Specialist, helping to position the IDB’s work and priorities across the region.
In this role, you will develop and implement communication strategies aligned with institutional priorities, craft compelling content tailored to diverse audiences and channels, provide strategic advice to senior management, and assess and help improve the impact of our communication efforts.
You will be part of the Communications Division within the External Affairs and Communications Department, which is responsible for managing internal and external communications, promoting and protecting the Bank’s brand, and effectively communicating our work and impact in Latin America and the Caribbean.
What you’ll do
Strategic Marketing and Communications Management
• Develop and implement communication and marketing strategies aligned with institutional priorities, ensuring consistency of narratives, brand attributes, and value propositions across all products and channels.
• Provide strategic advice to management on messaging, positioning, visibility opportunities, audience targeting, and reputation management.
Content, Campaigns & Digital Engagement
• Write and edit compelling content—including press releases, speeches, talking points, multimedia scripts, client-facing materials, and marketing products—that enhance storytelling and reinforce corporate priorities.
• Plan and execute campaigns across web, social media, email, and paid channels, leveraging tools like Salesforce Marketing Cloud for targeted outreach and segmentation.
• Work with multimedia and digital analytics teams to optimize content performance and campaigns using insights and dashboards built in tools like Power BI.
Stakeholder, Media & Market Engagement
• Manage media relations and outreach to elevate institutional visibility, strengthen recognition, and support key initiatives, events, and corporate priorities.
• Support sector, regional, and country teams with tailored communications and marketing materials, highlighting expertise, track record, and institutional impact.
• Coordinate activities aligned with business development, including client outreach and support to events featuring priority thematic and sectoral content.
Tools, Insights & Cross-Functional Coordination
• Develop and maintain core Marketing and Communications materials such as factsheets, pitch decks, project briefs, and thematic assets.
• Use marketing and analytics tools—including Salesforce Marketing Cloud, CRM systems, and Power BI—to improve targeting, measure engagement, and generate actionable insights.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners (agencies, creators, regional teams) to plan, implement, and evaluate Marketing and Communications strategies.
• Monitor sectoral trends, communications performance, and business indicators to inform content development, campaigns, and strategic decisions.
What you'll need
• Education: Master’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, business administration, public policy, or related fields.
• Experience: minimum of five years of experience in public relations, journalism, corporate communications, marketing, or related fields.
• Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

• Proven track record as a strong writer and editor across multiple platforms.
• Skilled in managing crisis communications.
• In-depth understanding of the region’s socio-political dynamics and media landscape.
• Creative thinker with the ability to translate innovative ideas into actionable plans.
• Strong interpersonal skills, a team-player attitude, and the ability to adapt to change.
• Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.
• Experience working in cross-functional teams, across countries, collaborating with corporate, regional, and local offices.
Requirements
• Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.
• Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
Type of contract and duration
• Staff: International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
