Duties and Responsibilities

International Trade Centre (ITC)'s Investment Facilitation for Development (IFD) project provides capacity building for developing countries on the negotiation and implementation of the Investment Facilitation for Development (IFD) Agreement at the WTO by: • Enhancing negotiation capacities in developing (including least developed) countries; • Channelling ground-level insights and analytical expertise to support negotiators; • Promoting public discussions of issues related to investment facilitation for development; • Assisting with investment facilitation needs assessments and offering trainings on implementing related investment facilitation measures. The project delivers capacity-building workshops, organizes awareness-raising events, supports countries in conducting investment facilitation needs assessments, and provide policy advice on investment facilitation reforms. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES The consultant will work under the overall supervision of the Chief, Strategies and Policies for Trade and Investment, and the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Manager, the consultant will be responsible for the following tasks: • Organize weekly meetings to discuss project development and activities • Support the organization of investment facilitation needs assessments • Research and draft content for technical documents on investment facilitation such as publications, flyers and brochures on investment facilitation • Review of investment regulations and frameworks, including implementation of the WTO IFD Agreement as well as other regional investment facilitation frameworks such as the AfCFTA Investment Protocol (investment facilitation provisions) • Draft/review project related documents, such as reports, speeches, presentations, concept notes, online materials, reporting documents, etc. • Research and draft content on other trade topics, including e-commerce, trade in services, digital trade Copyright Clause: The consultant has to ensure that she has obtained the necessary permissions with regard to intellectual property rights required to perform her services under this consultancy contract and for the subsequent dissemination by ITC in any form. Documentary proof is to be submitted to ITC. Should any license fee be due for the use of copyrighted materials of third parties, the consultant shall request the prior written permission from ITC. Qualifications/special skills

• Postgraduate degree (MA/MSc/MBA, PhD or other) • Advanced degree in law, economics, development studies, international relations or related disciplines • A minimum of 6 years of experience in trade and investment policies, preferably related to investment facilitation • Proven experience with drafting and editing of written research policy analysis • Proven experience in assisting trade policy formulation • Proven experience with development, trade-related technical assistance work Skills • Good research and writing skills • Good understanding of global trade and development issues, with specific knowledge on investment facilitation • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Languages

Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
