Build a career with impact. Working at the World Bank Group (WBG) provides a unique opportunity to help countries solve their greatest development challenges. As one of the largest sources of funding and knowledge for developing countries, the WBG is a unique partnership of five global institutions dedicated to ending poverty, increasing shared prosperity, and promoting sustainable development. With 189 member countries and more than 120 offices worldwide, the WBG works with public and private sector partners, investing in groundbreaking projects and using data, research, and technology to develop solutions to the most urgent global challenges.
As part of the WBG Treasury, the Client Solutions & Structuring department (TRECS) provides structuring expertise and advisory services for financial products offered by IBRD, IDA, and IFC – including risk management, structured finance, local currency financing, derivatives and debt capital market solutions. The department has responsibility for asset-liability management and contributes to product innovation and financial policies.
TRECS is looking for a dynamic and highly motivated finance professional with a focus on structured finance products (securitizations, guarantees, covered bonds, risk sharing facilities, etc.). The candidate will have experience with financial models and analyzing data for the purpose of structuring transactions with clients. Knowledge and experience with derivatives (swaps and FX) and asset-liability management will be greatly valued. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a truly multicultural environment and contribute to an area of strategic priority for the WBG, applying a wide range of treasury instruments to provide local currency, funding and risk management solutions for the WBG’s clients, and join in the WBG’s mission to create opportunity and improve people’s lives.
The position will cover the Asia Pacific region and is based in New Delhi, India.
Duties and Accountabilities:
• Contribute to day-to-day business delivery across TRECS products, programs and markets by developing, structuring and facilitating the execution of local currency, funding and risk management transactions for WBG’s clients.
• Perform historical performance analysis on credit portfolios (e.g. vintage analysis, assess marginal and cumulative default rates over time).
• Assist in the structuring of local currency and funding solutions for clients through derivative and other treasury instruments.
• Prepare documents on business development and investment decision committees.
• Contribute to business development, and explain treasury products to clients, regulators, and banks.
• Contribute to the team’s strong relationships with key stakeholders, including investment banks, local banks, capital markets firms, development finance institutions, and regulators.
• Apply financial models to structure, evaluate, and price transactions; and
• Provide training and knowledge management services to colleagues and external clients.
Selection Criteria
• MBA/Masters (or equivalent) in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, Mathematics, Law or related area.
• 5-10 years of relevant experience in finance, with the focus on structured finance, and/or derivatives.
• Sound understanding of fixed income instruments combined with strong analytical skills, problem solving capability and financial modeling skills.
• Demonstrated ability to structure and analyze various fixed income instruments for corporate clients (including local currency loans, derivatives, bond and/or structured finance). Solid understanding of asset-and-liability management is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in teams, attention to detail and resourcefulness.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Fluency in another language is a plus; and
• Unequivocal commitment to diversity and inclusion. We will not tolerate racism, sexism, discrimination or prejudice of any kind or at any time.
“As per WBG policy, an Extended Term (ET) appointment is subject to a lifetime maximum of three (3) years. Former and current ET staff who have completed or are in the process of completing their third-year ET appointment are not eligible for future ET appointments.”
WBG Culture Attributes:
