Organizational Setting

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) contributes to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through the FAO Strategic Framework by supporting the transformation to more efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agrifood systems, for better production, better nutrition, a better environment and a better life, leaving no one behind.
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Country Offices, led by FAO Representatives, implement the corporate Strategic Framework at the country level. They provide policy advice and technical assistance to support the development of policies, programmes, and projects aimed at achieving food security, reducing hunger and malnutrition, and promoting sustainable agricultural development to ensure zero hunger.

In Bangladesh, the FAO Representation (FAOBD) implements multiple corporate, national, regional, and global projects and programmes under the Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP), Trust Fund (TF), and Regular Programme (RP) budgets. These initiatives address priority needs identified by the Government and stakeholders, focusing on strengthening capacities, promoting innovative technologies, and enhancing policy frameworks to drive sustainable transformation of agrifood systems.
The objectives of these initiatives include\:
• Supervising field data collection and ensuring adherence to project protocols
• Maintaining updated datasets, field notes, and photo documentation
• Coordinating and monitoring enumerator activities and training engagements
• Preparing timely progress reports and documentation of field findings

The Data Collector – DIEM Surveywill play a key role in achieving these objectives by overseeing field data collection, guiding and training enumerators, ensuring the accuracy and timely submission of data, maintaining organized field records, and facilitating smooth communication between field teams and project management.


Reporting Lines

The Data Collector – DIEM Survey (SC1) will support field data collection and monitoring under the supervision of the Natural Resources Socioeconomic Specialist and overall guidance of the Assistant FAO Representative (Programme).


Technical Focus

The position focuses on coordinating and supervising field data collection activities while ensuring strict adherence to project protocols and quality standards. The incumbent will be responsible for organizing and guiding enumerator training, overseeing the collection of both qualitative and quantitative data, and ensuring the completeness, accuracy, and timely submission of all data and reports.

Tasks and responsibilities

Field Oversight & Support

• Attend and actively participate in training sessions prior to fieldwork.
• Organize and oversee enumerator participation and training engagement.
• Guide enumerators in gathering baseline and monitoring data.
• Monitor project activities through regular field visits and ensure adherence to protocols.

Data Collection & Quality Control

• Supervise the collection of qualitative and quantitative data, including post-distribution and post-training assessments.
• Collect agricultural market information as needed and directed.
• Review data for completeness, accuracy, and consistency before submission.

Documentation & Reporting

• Ensure accurate and timely submission of completed questionnaires, field notes, and other data collection tools.
• Maintain organized records of all field activities, including attendance, training logs, and consultation summaries.
• Prepare periodic progress reports summarizing field findings, challenges, and recommendations.
• Support the documentation of community consultations, stakeholder meetings, and training sessions.
• Contribute to the development of input/material distribution plans and document implementation processes.
• Ensure proper archiving of all project-related documents, both physical and digital.

Accountability to Affected People (AAP)

• Inform beneficiaries about the AAP message and feedback mechanisms.
• Ensure all complaints and feedback from beneficiaries are properly recorded, addressed, and responded to in a timely manner.

Support & Logistics

• Facilitate and/or support trainings, capacity-building activities, and learning events.
• Coordinate with field teams to ensure smooth implementation of activities.
• Perform other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor or project lead.

Minimum Requirements

• University graduate with proven ability to learn quickly and handle multidisciplinary tasks efficiently.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in managing field operations, data collection, and administrative coordination, with strong proficiency in maintaining accurate documentation and timely reporting.
• Working knowledge (Level C) of English and Bangla.
• National of Bangladesh.
