The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking to recruit one (01) experienced and reliable Driver to
support the field operations of the new EU funded project “Ensemble, travaillons pour lutter contre
la faim dans le Sud (MIRAIKA)”. The project aims to strengthen food and nutrition security and
enhance the resilience of vulnerable communities and local institutions across the Great South of
Madagascar.

About CIP
CIP is a member of the CGIAR, a global research partnership for a food-secure future. CGIAR science is
dedicated to transforming food, land, and water systems in a climate crisis, and it is carried out by 15
CGIAR Centers/Alliances in close collaboration with hundreds of partners, including national and
regional research institutes, civil society organizations, academia, development organizations, and the
private sector.

About the role
The Driver will provide safe, efficient, and timely transportation services for CIP staff, officials, and
guests, while ensuring proper vehicle maintenance and compliance with CIP policies and safety
standards. The role also supports field missions and basic administrative tasks to facilitate smooth
office and project operations.
The position is based in Ambovombe, Madagascar, and reports to the Finance and Administrative
Manager.

Key responsibilities
• Safety of transport CIP staff, partners, and visitors for meetings, field missions, and airport
transfers, ensuring punctuality and adherence to safe driving practices
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and routine maintenance to ensure cleanliness, safety, and
operational readiness
• Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks, records, and documentation
• Report accidents, incidents, or mechanical issues promptly to the supervisor
• Assist office staff with basic administrative and operational tasks when required
• Support field activities and logistics under challenging road and weather conditions
• Comply with CIP health, safety, and security policies and procedures
• Identify and manage risks related to assigned duties to ensure safe operations

Requirements

What are we looking for?
• Technical studies or equivalent training
• Knowledge of national driving rules and regulations
• Minimum of five (5) years of professional driving experience in a similar role
• Proven safe driving record
• Strong 4-wheel driving skills in difficult terrain and weather conditions
• Valid Driver’s License (Class B)
• Basic vehicle repair and maintenance skills
• Ability to work under pressure and in remote or challenging environments
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal communication skills
• High integrity, accountability, and reliability
• Familiarity with digital tools is an advantage
• Excellent spoken and written French and Malagasy
• Working knowledge of English required
