The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking to recruit one (01) experienced and results-driven
Project Coordinator / Nutritionist to lead the coordination and technical implementation of nutritionfocused interventions of the new EU funded project “Ensemble, travaillons pour lutter contre la faim
dans le Sud (MIRAIKA)”. The project aims to strengthen food and nutrition security and enhance the
resilience of vulnerable communities and institutions across the Great South of Madagascar, including
the districts of Amboasary, Ambovombe, Antanimora, Betroka, Beloha, Tshihombe, and Bekily.

About CIP
CIP is a member of the CGIAR, a global research partnership for a food-secure future. CGIAR science is
dedicated to transforming food, land, and water systems in a climate crisis, and it is carried out by 15
CGIAR Centers/Alliances in close collaboration with hundreds of partners, including national and
regional research institutes, civil society organizations, academia, development organizations, and the
private sector.

About the role
The Project Coordinator / Nutritionist will provide overall project coordination, technical leadership,
and stakeholder engagement to ensure effective and timely delivery of nutrition and food security
interventions. The successful candidate will oversee field implementation, partner capacity building,
monitoring and reporting, and the promotion of evidence-based nutrition practices, with a strong focus
on sweetpotato-based nutrition solutions.
The position is based in Ambovombe, Madagascar, and reports to the Country Manager and Senior
Scientist for Madagascar.

Key responsibilities
Project Management & Coordination
• Internalize the project mission and contribute to achieving goals effectively and sustainably
• Develop and manage detailed work plans, schedules, and implementation strategies
• Coordinate and supervise daily project activities in collaboration with partners and
stakeholders
• Monitor progress to ensure activities are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with
quality standards
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with government services, research institutions, NGOs,
private sector actors, and farmer groups
• Strengthening partner capacity through technical support and training
• Prepare and submit timely technical and financial reports
• Identify and manage risks to ensure smooth project delivery
• Represent CIP at local and regional meetings, workshops, and coordination forums
• Document lessons learned, best practices, and project outcomes, and present results at
professional events

Technical & Nutrition Leadership
• Train partners and communities on balanced diets and the nutritional benefits of sweetpotato
and diversified food systems
• Develop and deliver training, advocacy, and behavior change materials, including nutrition
messages, food guides, and recipe books
• Facilitate community-level culinary demonstrations and awareness sessions
• Support logistics for the distribution of small-scale nutrition-related materials and equipment
• Monitor and provide technical backstopping to partners and beneficiaries
• Design and implement surveys, studies, and data collection tools
• Collect, analyze, and interpret data to inform reporting and decision-making
• Organize nutrition awareness campaigns in collaboration with ONN and other partners

Requirements

What are we looking for?
• Master's degree in Nutrition, Food Science, Biology, or a related field
• PhD is an advantage but not required
• Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant professional experience in project coordination,
implementation, and management
• Proven experience promoting nutrition and food security interventions
• Experience working with smallholder farmers and agricultural extension programs
• Experience designing training tools and delivering participatory capacity-building activities
• Familiarity with governmental nutrition programs and multi-stakeholder engagement
• Knowledge of sweetpotato-based nutrition interventions and gender-responsive programming
is an advantage
• Strong project management, leadership, and team coordination skills
• Budget planning and financial oversight experience
• Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary and cross-cultural environments
• High integrity, accountability, and problem-solving mindset
• Proficiency in MS Office and digital tools
• Excellent written and spoken French and Malagasy
• Working knowledge of English required
