Overview of positionCTG is looking for a qualified LAN and WAN network Engineer. This role is being advertised for talent pool building purposes, once the project goes live, only those candidates that are shortlisted will be contacted.
The Network Engineer should have extensive hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise and mission-critical network infrastructures across our client. Responsible for the planning optimization, testing, commissioning, decommissioning and management of our client's network infrastructure across the mission. Ensure resilient WAN and LAN connectivity, reliable internet services, and secure wireless access to support mission-critical applications and mandate delivery. Demonstrate strong practical expertise in LAN/WAN routing, network security, load balancing, unified communications, and multi-ISP architectures, with a proven ability to maintain high availability and service continuity in challenging environments.

Project reportingThis role reports to the line manager.
LAN/WAN & Enterprise Routing
Extensive experience with LAN/WAN routing protocols and enterprise network solutions
Ability to design, optimize, and support resilient networks, data centers, and remote field offices
Strong troubleshooting capability across complex routed environments
Extensive experience with MS Teams Voice and PSTN call routing
Proven hands-on experience designing and operating multi-ISP load balancing solutions
Advanced experience with Peplink load balancers, including:
Bandwidth aggregation
Intelligent traffic steering
Seamless failover
High availability for mission-critical services
Demonstrated ability to ensure service continuity in unstable or bandwidth-constrained environments
Deep technical expertise in Check Point firewall architecture and administration, including:
Security policy design and management
Threat prevention and inspection
VPN configuration (site-to-site and remote access)
Enterprise perimeter and internal segmentation security
Strong hands-on experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), implementing:
Network access control (NAC)
User and device authentication and authorization
Policy enforcement across large, complex infrastructures
Wireless Networks
Practical experience with Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC) and Cisco Access Points
Design, deployment, and support of enterprise wireless networks, including:
Coverage planning
Secure wireless access
Integration with authentication services (ISE)
Unified Communications & Collaboration
Hands-on experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) for enterprise voice environments
Practical experience supporting Microsoft Teams and Teams Voice
Experience with PSTN provider integration and call routing, including:
SIP trunk connectivity
Call routing and failover
Integration between CUCM, Teams Voice, and external PSTN providers
Procurement & Vendor Management
Proven experience in network procurement processes, including:
Raising purchase requests
Developing technical specifications and Q1 documentation
Performing detailed technical evaluations of vendor proposals
Ability to assess vendor solutions for technical compliance, performance, security, and operational suitability
Desirable Attributes
Experience supporting peacekeeping or mission-critical operations
Ability to work effectively in remote, high-pressure, or resource-constrained environments

Professional Experience
Minimum 10 years of hands-on and experience in network engineering
5 years + proven experience working in UN peacekeeping mission environments
Strong hands-on experience in LAN and WAN network design, implementation, and troubleshooting
Demonstrated expertise managing enterprise routing and switching across geographically distributed sites
Mandatory Certifications
Candidates must hold the following valid certifications:
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
Check Point Certified Firewall Administrator
ITIL Certification
Certified Data Center Administrator
This role has no team management responsibility.
Experience supporting peacekeeping or mission-critical operations
Ability to work effectively in remote, high-pressure, or resource-constrained environments
Strong documentation, coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills
Proven problem-solving mindset and operational reliability
