The individual contractor will carry out the specific deliverables under the overall supervision of the Chief of TSS/CEB and in close consultation with and direct guidance of the relevant Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer. All expertise provided must be supported with related documentation, as well as a clear indication of sources/source materials. Plagiarism and unauthorized use of copyrighted materials will not be tolerated. Payments will be made upon satisfactory completion and/or submission of outputs/deliverables.

Duties and Responsibilities

Background of the assignment: The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is the guardian of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), the only legally binding universal anti-corruption instrument. The Convention's far-reaching approach and the mandatory character of many of its provisions makes it a unique tool for developing a comprehensive response to a global problem. UNODC possesses extensive experience and in-depth substantive expertise, delivering and adapting technical assistance to Member States upon request and working with a variety of national, regional and international stakeholders. Moreover, UNODC possesses substantial experience in developing technical tools, and disseminating and facilitating exchange of good practices in the fight against corruption. In this context, UNODC is seeking an individual contractor who will support the development of the following documents: • 3 university modules of the University Module Series on Anti-Corruption Purpose of the assignment: The purpose of this assignment is to proofread and edit: • 3 university modules of the University Module Series on Anti-Corruption. Specific tasks to be performed by the individual contractor: Under the overall supervision of the Chief, Thematic Support Section, Corruption and Economic Crime Branch, direct supervision of appropriate staff of the Section and in coordination with other consultants as necessary, the individual contractor will perform the following tasks: A. Edit and proofread three draft university modules on anti-corruption, in line with UN editorial guidelines (each module approx. 60 pages) At all times, the individual contractor shall provide to UNODC access to intermediate products under the individual contract arrangement. Expected tangible and measurable tasks: The individual contractor will carry out the specific deliverables under the overall supervision of the Chief of TSS/CEB and in close consultation with and direct guidance of the relevant Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer. All expertise provided must be supported with related documentation, as well as a clear indication of sources/source materials. Plagiarism and unauthorized use of copyrighted materials will not be tolerated.

Qualifications/special skills

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. University studies in languages, humanities, international relations or related discipline are desirable At least seven (7) years of professional experience in writing, editing, proofreading and publishing is required; A professional training in journalism or editing is required; excellent drafting skills are required; excellent grammar skills in English are required. Experience in working with the United Nations Editorial Guidelines is required; Experience in writing or editing documents for the United Nations, preferably on topics related to the purpose of the assignment, is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
