CONTRACT TYPE: Short-Term, Regular Consultant (CST 1)
DURATION: 11 months

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
The Private Partnerships & Fundraising Division (PSP) is responsible for mobilizing resources from the private sector to support the World Food Programme’s (WFP’s) global mission. WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. Every day, over 5,000 WFP-chartered trucks are on the road, supported by around 80 aircraft and 20 ships delivering food and assistance to those in need.
Despite our efforts, the needs remain immense and growing, driven by a deadly combination of conflict, climate shocks, economic instability, and forced displacement. As of 2025, over 345 million people face acute food insecurity across 79 countries. To meet these needs and build a more sustainable, predictable, and flexible funding stream, we began investing in growing our individual giving programme in 2019 and, this year will have completed the first phase of our strategy (2020-2025).
WFP’s second phase of the private sector strategy for 2025–2030 sets out an ambitious plan to further scale income from individuals, enabling us to reach more people with life-saving assistance. Our approach is digital-first, leveraging global reach and cost-effective tools to engage supporters worldwide. In addition to digital channels we are now expanding into Face-to-Face (F2F) and Direct Response Television (DRTV) fundraising to diversify acquisition and deepen engagement.
This centralized, global strategy positions WFP to leapfrog traditional models and build a robust individual giving programme that delivers long-term impact.

INDIVIDUAL FUNDRAISING
WFP’s Individual Giving programme launched in 2019 and has grown into a USD +50 million annual operation, raising over USD 100 million in its first five years. The programme is built around a digital-first strategy, led by a centralized global team that recruits supporters primarily through digital channels.
We deliver a multi-lingual, multi-channel supporter experience, designed to offer a best-in-class donor journey. Donors are recruited in English, French, German, Spanish, and Arabic, with additional capabilities in Korean and Chinese. Supporter engagement is delivered through email, SMS, WhatsApp, outbound telephone, and Meta. To expand reach and diversify acquisition, Face-to-Face (F2F) and Direct Response Television (DRTV) fundraising are being introduced as complementary channels in the next phase of our strategy.
High Value Donor Fundraising is an integral part of the Individual Giving Programme managed as part of Supporter Experience. The HVD team is responsible for the management and development of mid and high value donors.

In 2023, 6% of income was raised from High Value donors (USD$10K+ donation), 14% from Mid Value donors (USD$1K + donation), both segments representing the largest area of growth in individual fundraising for non-profit organizations. Today, philanthropic potential from HNWI is estimated to be around USD 190 billion worldwide.

Reporting to the HVD/MVD Programme Lead, the HVD Stewardship Coordinator will help to qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward individual donors who have the capacity to donate $10K+, help grow the HVD Programme and support activities to achieve the new 2030 strategy.
