Mission and objectives
UN Women (UNW), grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. Placing women’s rights at the centre of all its efforts, the UN Women leads and coordinates the United Nations system efforts to ensure that commitments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming translate into action throughout the world. It provides strong and coherent leadership in support of Member States’ priorities and efforts, building effective partnerships with civil society and other relevant actors.
UN Women plays an innovative and catalytic role in the State of Palestine since its inception in 1997. UN Women Palestine Office focuses its activities on one overarching goal, namely, to support the implementation at the national level of existing international commitments to advance gender equality in line with the national priorities. In support of this goal, and thoroughly taking into consideration the specificities of the Palestinian context, UN Women concentrates its efforts and interventions toward the realisation of following strategic goals: Mainstreaming gender in governance, peace and security; Supporting women's economic security and rights; and Promoting women’s rights and protection against violence.

Context
UN Women’s triple mandate, along with its global network and deep policy and programming expertise, continues to endow the Entity with a unique capacity to: (i) support Member States to strengthen global norms and standards for gender equality and women’s empowerment, and mainstream gender perspectives in other thematic areas; (ii) promote coordination and coherence across the UN system to enhance accountability and results for gender equality and women’s empowerment; and (iii) undertake operational activities to support Member States, upon their request, in translating global norms and standards into legislation, policies and strategies at country level.
UN Women plays an innovative and catalytic role in the State of Palestine since its inception in 1997 (as UNIFEM). In line with the national priorities, the work of UN Women for the period 2023-2027 is aligned with three of the Palestine United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework’s (UNSDCF) outcomes:
• Palestinians have greater access to economic opportunities that are inclusive, resilient, and sustainable, including decent employment and livelihoods opportunities in an empowered private sector.
• Palestinians, including the most vulnerable, have equal access to sustainable, inclusive, gender responsive and quality social services, social protection, and affordable utilities.
• Palestinian governance institutions, processes, and mechanisms at all levels are more democratic, rights-based, inclusive, and accountable.
Its Strategic Note supports the efforts to achieve measurable results in country in terms of four UN Women global Strategic Plan impacts (2026-2029): 1) Women’s leadership and decision making. 2). Women’s Economic Empowerment; 3). Ending Violence Against Women and Girls, and; 4). Women peace and security, Humanitarian Action. Under the overall supervision of UN Women Special Representative and the direct supervision of UN Women Head of Gaza sub-Office, the Coordination Assistant will support UN Women’s humanitarian team in the Accountability to Affected Population (AAP) work, with focus on the Community Feedback Mechanism system (CFM).
In 2025, UN Women, on behalf of the Humanitarian Country Team, established the Interagency Community Feedback Mechanism (CFM), operating in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Operated through local partners, the system captures daily feedback, assistance requests, and complaints from crisis-affected populations and facilitates referrals to multi-sectoral humanitarian services, ensuring that the voices of women and girls inform humanitarian coordination and decision-making. UN Women works with a wide network of local and international partners across the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
Task description
Within the delegated authority and under the direct supervision of UN Women Head of Gaza Sub-office and in close technical coordination with the Humanitarian Analyst, the UNV AAP Coordination Expert will provide support in the following areas:
Provide support to the Accountability to Affected Populations’ Team (AAP): The assigned UNV will support effective coordination, implementation, follow-up, and information flow between UN Women, clusters and local partners to ensure effective planning, implementation and documentation of AAP-related activities, supporting different team members with:
• Lead and coordinate national-level AAP Working Group efforts, including Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE), outreach, and inter-agency initiatives.
• Provide technical oversight and guidance to cluster focal points on the review, updating, and harmonization of AAP/CFM Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs).
• Lead and coordinate the operationalization of the WASIL Community Feedback Mechanism (CFM), including following up with partners, hotline operators, and relevant stakeholders.
• Facilitate and coordinate regular partner and stakeholder meetings, tracking implementation progress
• Advise and Support programme teams on partner deliverables, timelines, risks, and beneficiary-related issues.
• Provide technical input on data quality assurance and analysis from community feedback where needed
• Coordinate the consolidation of partners' periodic reports, implementation, ME trackers, and required documentation.
• Lead the preparation of analytical reporting products, including briefs, presentations, meeting documentation, and inputs to progress and donor reports.
• The UNV will perform other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.
