The WBG People Vice Presidency is responsible for getting the right public and private sector solutions to our operational teams and to our clients, and to produce scalable impact.  Its mandate is to deliver knowledge for impact to enable and support the WBG to achieve its goals in support of our mission and specifically: providing guidance on creating more and better jobs; supporting foundational infrastructure and human capital, policy environment, and private sector mobilization; focusing on agribusiness, healthcare, infrastructure, manufacturing, and tourism; and support and accelerate specific targets such as M300, Health 1.5bn, and SP 500. The VPU’s objectives in driving outcomes include replicating and scaling effective solutions, enhancing thought leadership and innovation, and delivering timely knowledge to client teams

The (Associate) Operations Officer - Regional Portfolio and Strategic engagement;Africa, based in Nairobi, Kenya, will ensure gender and inclusion priorities are embedded in regional strategies and programs while supporting IFC teams and clients to drive meaningful impact. This role empowers inclusive economic growth, leveraging data-driven insights and collaboration to amplify IFC’s mission of creating sustainable development solutions.
Role Responsibilities:
•  Serve as the Africa Region Gender Flag Coordinator, providing guidance, quality assurance, and support to industry teams and portfolio officers.
•  Identify and screen Gender Flag opportunities by reviewing investment and advisory pipelines and collaborating with industry teams to intentionally integrate gender outcomes.
•  Monitor and report on gender-flagged projects, ensuring implementation progress, results quality, and contribution to IFC corporate KPIs and scorecards.
•  Build regional capacity and knowledge through guidance materials, staff training, and collaboration with global Knowledge Bank and Learning team to strengthen Gender Flag implementation.
•  Support implementation of IFC’s Africa Regional Gender Action Plan (RGAP) by working closely with Gender, Solutions & Impact Global Portfolio and Strategy, regional strategy and industry teams.
•  Strengthen partnerships and fundraising efforts by collaborating with regional partnerships teams and aligning donor engagement strategies.
•  Lead strategic communications and messaging, producing briefing materials for senior management and coordinating internal and external communications with WBG and regional teams.
•  Manage donor and stakeholder reporting, including collection and analysis of results data and preparation of inputs for external donor reports.
•  Scale and replicate high‑impact gender solutions and innovations across WBG products, sharing best practices through Communities of Practice and providing operational support to the Africa region.

Selection Criteria

•  A master’s degree in business, economics, finance, international relations or other relevant discipline required 
•  At least five years of relevant professional experience in portfolio management, strategic coordination, data analysis, or related fields, preferably in development finance or private sector development.
•  Advanced technical skills in Excel, dashboard reporting, and programming languages such as Python for data analysis and visualization.
•  Proven ability to communicate complex, data-driven insights clearly and effectively to diverse stakeholders, both in written and verbal formats.
•  Demonstrated experience collaborating within multidisciplinary teams and engaging with stakeholders from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
•  Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships, foster collaboration, and navigate complex organizational dynamics.
•  Passion for development impact and gender equality, with a solid understanding of gender issues and private sector development.
•  Fluency in written and spoken English, with the ability to produce high-quality reports and presentations.
•  Familiarity with IFC’s mission, operations, and strategic objectives, or experience working in similar international development organizations.
•  Commitment to IFC’s values, including innovation, accountability, and inclusivity, with a proactive and adaptable approach to problem-solving.
