Project Context and Scope

The Consultant - Graphic designer will work on visual assets to complete IOM brand collaterals.

Responsibilities

Tasks to be performed under this contract
  • Develop creative and eye-catching designs that align with the IOM brand style guide.
  • Create visual materials, such as infographics, illustrations, banners, posters, simple infographics animations, and social media assets.
  • Collaborate with the Media and Communications Unit to understand the objectives and messages of various     campaigns.
  • Produce campaign-specific visual materials that effectively communicate themes and key points.
  • Utilize design elements and layouts to tell compelling stories through visual content.
  • Refine designs to ensure they meet the communication goals and resonate with the target audience.
  • Maintain consistency in visual branding across all materials.
  • Collaborate closely with the Brand and Graphic Design Manager, to gather project requirements and understand the context of each assignment.
  • Provide timely delivery of design projects to meet campaign schedules and communication deadlines.
Performance indicators for the evaluation of results
  • Ensuring all outputs are aligned with IOM brand style guides.
  • Delivery of any asset on the expected deadlines.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • University degree in graphic design, graphic arts, or a related field, or a college diploma supplemented with additional one to two years of experience.
     

Experience

  • Experience working with institutional brand guidelines; and, 
  • Experience in working on all aspects of branding: typography, color palettes, photography, and illustration.
     

Skills

  • Portfolio demonstrating design mastery (mandatory);
  • Creative and self-motivated mindset with the ability to work and provide regular feedback independently;
  • Good sense of visual composition and a good eye for design and typography;
  • Excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop, and After Effects will be a plus), and Canva;
  • Good knowledge of print and digital industry standards;
  • Meticulous attention to detail and expertise in creating compelling visuals;
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with the Unit and colleagues from different cultural and professional backgrounds;
  • Demonstrate flexibility/adaptability, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask;
  • Proficiency in MS Office Publisher, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and,
  • Excellent knowledge of English and French required, both written and spoken.

Languages

IOM's official languages are English, French, and Spanish. All staff members are required to be fluent in one of the three languages.

For this consultancy, fluency in English and French is required (oral and written)

Desirable

Working knowledge of another UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Notes

IOM covers Consultants against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the consultancy. IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for reasons related to non-occupational accidents and illnesses. Consultants are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work.
