Since 2017, IRC has supported Rohingya Refugees and Bangladeshi nationalities communities in Cox's Bazar, Khulna, Barisal, and Chittagong with integrated services. The organization also addresses climate change impacts by building resilience and promoting economic recovery, education, and protection.

Purpose of the Role

The Nurse is a member of the IRC health team and will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the IRC’s health care activities in the Rohingya Refugee Camp. This position will ensure the delivery of high-quality health care service activities, including routine care of patients attending PHCC and the stabilization corner (SC).

Highlights of Key Responsibilities

  • Provide and ensure delivery of patient care through implementation of prescribed medication and monitoring effects.

  • Deliver the best nursing care to the patients of the stabilization corner (SC). Ensure IPC of SC, storage of nutritional items (foods & supplies), and proper & accurate documentation.

  • To deliver nursing care to patients based on established clinical practice standards.

  • Assist doctors during rounds, note and implement the orders properly.

  • Attend to admitted/in-patients with utmost sincerity and dedication.

  • Maintain various registers daily, like Patient, Disease, Doctor Order sheet, Medicine Check, etc.

  • Ensure that patients are fully satisfied with the hospital's manner, dedication, feelings for the recovery of the patient, quality of nurses, etc.

  • Provide health care, First Aid, immunizations, and assistance in recovery and rehabilitation.

  • Ensure and maintain all equipment, instruments, and other supplies related to patient care.

  • Attend and provide all support to indoor and outdoor patients.

  • Perform nursing procedures under the supervision of a physician.

  • Follow up & make sure to schedule and in-schedule medical check-ups of patients.

  • To collaborate with other disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery.

  • To actively participate in programs for quality improvement in nursing practices.

  • To maintain positive interpersonal relations with subordinates and seniors.

  • To promote a safe environment for patients, visitors, and co-workers, including the implementation of infection control policies in the hospital.

  • To perform the initial and reassessment of the patient within the defined time frame.

  • Triage, screening, and assessment of patients.

  • To check the daily inventory of medicines and other equipment.

  • To give priority to emergency cases and to coordinate with the consultants/respective department for the same.

  • Delivery of hygiene promotion, health education, and patient/caregiver counseling.

  • Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control measures.

  • Ensure accurate recording of information in the clinic registers and timely completion of summary reports.

  • Ensure clinical areas are appropriately stocked with essential equipment and supplies, nutritional items.

  • Ensure patient confidentiality is respected, and that all consultations are conducted in a dignified and respectful manner.

  • To perform all the jobs as may be assigned due to exigencies of work.

  • Work with and support community volunteers to provide health promotion, community mobilization, and awareness raising.

The nurse is responsible for delivering nursing care during the implementation of Sexual and Reproductive Health Services:

  • Counselling and provision of Family Planning

  • Clinical Care for Sexual Assault Survivors

  • Menstrual regulation

  • Post Abortion Care

  • Provision of basic first aid for intimate partner violence

  • Ensure quality of ANC and PNC services

  • Ensure safe delivery

  • Ensure neonatal care

Coordination & Representation:

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with local communities, local government agencies, and other implementing partners.

Others:

  • Promote and actively participate in initiatives and efforts to build team engagement, inclusion, and cohesion in IRC [team/office]

  • Foster ongoing learning, honest dialogue, and reflection to strengthen safeguarding and to promote IRC values and adherence to IRC policies.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of working experience

  • Previously working experience with any local or international NGO

  • Skilled in nursing procedures

  • Previous experience working in a nutritional facility (especially in SC) will be a great asset

Specific Educational Qualification

  • Diploma in Nursing
