Organizational Context and Scope

Under the overall supervision of the Resource Management Officer and the direct supervision of the Senior Supply Chain Associate in Harare, the incumbent will carry out the following duties and responsibilities:  

Responsibilities

  1. Perform a regular check of all IOM vehicles and report status and all required maintenance to the direct supervisor.

  2.  Monitor and assist A, B and minor maintenance for all vehicles at selected garage by IOM and keep proper records of the same. 

  3. Inform the supervisor on all required maintenance and advise on the best way to move forward. 

  4. Take the vehicles to pre-identified maintenance and advise on the best way to move forward.

  5. Take the vehicles to pre-identified maintenance workshops and follow up on maintenance performed for each and every vehicle.

  6. Perform driving duties of staff or mail and goods when required. 

  7. Make sure all vehicles are having the appropriate equipment and tools by Zimbabwe Law, and by MORSS. 

  8. Obey Zimbabwe traffic rules at all times and drive safely according to the new conditions. 

  9. Perform Generator Maintenance and service in Zimbabwe Office. 

  10. Facilitate vehicle inspections for all IOM vehicles in Zimbabwe. 

  11. Tracking and ensure vehicle parts, inventory is updated and reporting to Procurement and Logistics Officer. 

  12. Advise the Procurement and Logistics assistant on all vehicle allocations to IOM offices.

  13. Raises Purchase Requests for all vehicle needs and repairs. 

  14. Any other duties relevant as assigned.
     

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • High School Degree/Certificates with minimum 3 years of relevant working experience or
  •  Bachelor’s Degree with minimum 1 year of relevant working experience from an accredited institutions. 
  • Certificate in the field of Vehicle Mechanics will be an added advantage. 
  • Valid Driving License (A, B, C, E class), PSV License is an added advantage.
  • Possession of a Government Driving Test Grade I and II.
     

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years driving experience and 2 years’ experience in maintaining vehicles by working for reputable workshops or vehicle maintenance institute. 
  • Mature individual, able to work independently, paying attention to detail and meeting deadlines. 
  • Good computer skills, especially in Ms Office: Word, Outlook and Excel.
     

Skills

  • Proven ability in professional driving and routine vehicle maintenance gained through hands-on experience.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, meet deadlines, and maintain high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Outlook, and Excel.
     

Languages

All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).

For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
