About this position

We are searching for a Development Effectiveness Consultant to support the Development Effectiveness Division (DVF) team in the provision of development effectiveness services to IDB Lab. 

What you’ll do

  • Implement ex-ante assessment of development impact of operations. This includes: (i) researching and summarizing relevant evidence on the sector and country of operations; (ii) supporting IDB Lab specialists in articulating the theory of change and measuring the development results of their operations; (iii) computing iDELTA of operations; (iv) computing climate finance of operations; (v) supporting the preparation of project documents.
  • Implement ex-post assessment of IDB Lab operations. This includes the evaluation of operations in dimensions such as Relevance, Effectiveness, Efficiency and Sustainability.
  • Support the update of guidelines and other strategic documents.
  • Support in additional tasks related to the implementation of the IDB Lab Impact Management Framework.

What you'll need

Education: You hold a master’s degree in economics, Finance, Public Administration or related field for the position.

Experience: At least 5 years of relevant experience in economic research, project management, or monitoring and evaluation of development projects or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role. Experience in economic cost-benefit analysis or impact evaluation is a plus. Advanced knowledge of development economics, development effectiveness, and impact measurement, with strong familiarity with IDB Invest, IDB Lab, or similar multilateral/private‑sector operations. Experience working in Latin America and the Caribbean is essential. Strong project management, collaboration, and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities and synthesize complex information. Demonstrated creativity, effective communication, client focus, and commitment to quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional  knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

•    Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
 

Type of contract and duration

  • International consultant Full-Time, 20 months (up to 48 months, if applicable).
