The Borlaug Institute for South Asia (BISA) is a non-profit international research institute dedicated to food, nutrition, and livelihood security as well as environmental rehabilitation in South Asia, which is home to more than 300 million undernourished people. We are seeking dynamic, innovative, self-motivated, and service-oriented professionals for the position of Technical Assistant under the Climate Resilient Agriculture (CRA)-Madhya Pradesh Project.

The positions will be based in Narshinghpur and Newari districts in Madhya Pradesh.

The main responsibilities of this position: (TOR).

  • Support in execution of farmers participatory trials and on station demonstrations of climate resilient crop varieties and agricultural practices.
  • Monitoring day-to-day field activities (irrigation, fertilizers, crop protection etc.) and data collection from the farmers participatory /research trials, as per the instructions of the supervisor.
  • Keeping excellent records of input used, and machinery and other services provided by the project to the farmers in standard BISA format.
  • Providing high-quality monthly technical reports to the Project Coordinator based on implemented activities.
  • Effective liaisoning with the State Agriculture Department's officials and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Other activities that are assigned time to time by the supervisor.

Academic qualifications, experience, skills, and attitudes:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in agriculture with 2 years relevant experience.
  • Good knowledge of crop production techniques including conservation agriculture, seed production, agronomic management, and latest agriculture machinery.
  • Good knowledge of local language (Hindi) and English.

The position is for an initial fixed-term contract of 1 year with annual renewal subject to performance. Thereafter, the contract would be renewed based on overall performance and the continued availability of funds.
