About this position
The IDB’s Office of Institutional Integrity (OII) is looking for a dynamic and innovative Investigations and Litigation Consultant to play a key role in carrying out significant and complex investigations of suspected or alleged prohibited practices in IDB Group-financed activities.
The Office of Institutional Integrity (OII) is an independent unit within the IDB Group that promotes integrity and prevents misconduct in IDB-financed activities. It investigates allegations of prohibited practices—such as fraud and corruption—and manages integrity risks across operations and corporate activities.
As a second line of defense, OII supports teams in identifying and mitigating threats to the IDB Group’s reputation and goals. It develops protocols, advises projects, and raises awareness through training and outreach. OII also contributes to transparency by reporting findings, recommending actions, and collaborating with peer institutions to strengthen integrity standards.
What you’ll do
Support OII on investigations related to prohibited practices, through your participation as a member of investigative teams. To this end, in coordination with the investigative team you will:
- Conduct preliminary inquiries and full investigations into allegations of prohibited practices involving IDB Group-financed activities.
- Prepare and edit summaries of new allegations, prepare records and conduct interviews or other inquiries of witnesses and subjects, prepare transcripts and documentary evidence.
- Participate in investigative missions and collect, review and analyze open-source intelligence, project-related documentation, and other evidence relevant to investigations.
- Prepare and update investigative reports, statements of charges and back to office reports;
- Based on the findings from investigations and other sources, assist in identifying lessons learned, recommendations, policies and instruments to prevent prohibited practices both within and outside the IDB Group.
- Provide assistance and support to anti-corruption activities, collaborating with the preventive team on specific tasks, as directed by the Chief of OII or the Investigations Sector Principal Specialist.
- Collaborate across investigators to ensure that all information in the Case Management System is up to date as well as gather and present statistical information to report to OII Management.
- Complete all tasks in accordance with the highest standards of integrity, quality, timeliness, and objectivity.
What you'll need
-Education: Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: Law, Criminal Justice/Criminology, Compliance, Business Administration, or related areas.
-Experience: 2 years of experience, preferably in the areas of investigations, investigative analysis, forensic auditing, and/or compliance.
-Languages: Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank official languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is required. Fluency in French is a plus.

Type of contract and duration
International consultant Full-Time, 12 months (up to 48 months, subject to eligibility).
