POSITION SUMMARY
HIAS seeks a Finance Manager to oversee the day-to-day effective and efficient management of all financial activities of HIASs Kenya office. The Finance Manager will oversee all finance, accounting, Procurement and IT functions. The person will also ensure accurate and timely preparation of internal financial reports and submission of external reporting. The incumbent will also maintain high standards of internal controls in accordance with International Accounting Standards, Kenyan laws, and regulations. The Finance Manager will report directly to the Country Director. They will also work closely with HQ Finance and BFC teams.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage all financial transactional activity, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll, and ensure that all financial transactions and journal entries are recorded accurately in accordance with organization policies, donor and governmental regulations.
- Lead in program proposal budgeting and financial planning processes for the Country Office, administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes; and keep the senior leadership team abreast of the organizations financial status.
- Monitor budget execution and spending through burn rates and other tracking systems.
- Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting, including timely monthly funds requests.
- Coordinate all financial audits of the operations in HIAS Kenya
- Review key monthly account analysis; bank reconciliations, G/L to subsidiary ledger reconciliation.
- Ensures that financial reports for all donors, local compliance, and HQ are submitted in a timely manner.
- Prepare, analyze, and report to the Country Director and HQ, monthly Excel budget vs actual analysis.
- Ensure timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports, including submission of the monthly financial review reports to HQ.
- Support in the input of NetSuite in all aspects of HIAS Kenyas operations.
- Ensure the correct coding of expenses against grants to ensure adequate charging of grants.
- Conduct regular training for HIAS Kenya employees on financial policies and procedures and best practices
- Ensure compliance with all HIAS policies and procedures as outlined in policy manuals and in accordance with local statutory requirements.
- Oversee monthly payroll reviews, reconciliation, and payment to ensure that payroll is completed in compliance with the tax and labor requirements.
- Monitor all procurement activities to ensure they are conducted fairly and transparently, that all processes are fully documented, and are in full compliance with HIAS and donor policies
- Conduct regular training for HIAS Kenya employees on NetSuite application, financial policies and procedures, and best practices.
- Lead and supervise the Finance Team, IT Officer, and the procurement officer through periodic meetings, guiding effective establishment of objectives, delegation, performance reviews, and communication.
- Participate in internal and external management meetings for financial planning and development purposes.
- Provide oversight into the management of accountability to the affected population by ensuring staff responsibilities and HIAS's financial practices, considering the population that HIAS serves
- Any other duty as may be assigned.
Qualification and Experience
- Graduate degree or other post-graduate qualifications in finance or accounting (will consider experience in lieu of a Masters degree).
- At least seven (7) years work experience in an Accounting or Finance position with accounting and budgeting responsibilities and at least three (3) to four (4) years in an INGO or similar field.
- At least three (3) years of demonstrated experience in a management role
- Knowledgeable of Kenyan laws and regulations.
- Excellent computer skills in all Microsoft Office suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.);
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities;
- Capability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to work in a team and independently, take initiative, prioritize competing tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of AAP and PSEA.

Salary: KES 265,000 gross per month
