Purpose of Job
We are seeking a skilled Data analytics analyst for the development of analytics solutions within the Microsoft Fabric and Power BI ecosystem. This role is central to the team transition from an existing reporting stack (Tableau, Alteryx, SQL Server, Cognos) to a modern, cloud-based analytics platform. While the primary focus is on building scalable future-state solutions in Fabric and Power BI, the analyst will also provide BAU support for existing Tableau dashboards and Alteryx workflows.
The role holder will use their skillset to facilitate the delivery of high-quality data insights using data visualisation and BI tools such as Fabric & Power BI, Tableau and Alteryx to ensure comprehensive, timely and accurate operations oversight for operational teams and management.
This role holder will collaborate with cross-functional teams (IT, HR, etc) to deliver data-driven solutions that improve efficiency, support decision-making and ensure regulatory compliance.
The position will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues across all areas of OSM and other parts of EBRD. This will be done in both face-to-face and remote environments.
In addition to core components of the role, the position will also drive Ad-Hoc projects and require an aptitude to learn and apply new tools and techniques through a combination of peer-to-peer learning, self-initiative and formal training.
Background
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (“the EBRD” or “the Bank”) is undertaking a programme of work to become leaner and more effective operationally.
The Operations Change, Readiness & Analytics (OCRA) team was created in early 2020 as a critical enabler to the EBRD transformation journey. The team initially spent time designing and implementing OSM Target Operating Model (TOM), however, with a phased implementation of the TOM well underway in 2023, the focus of the team is naturally moving towards helping OSM absorb bank wide change more effectivity.
The OCRA team (reporting into the Director of Operation Banking & Treasury in OSM), is building its operational change, readiness and analytics capabilities, enabling operations teams to deliver enhanced and modernised processes whilst maintaining strong control environments. The team is also building out its MI & Analytics capability, enabling it to make informed decisions around the performance of the function and more actively collaborate with our partners/buyers.
Facts / Scale
The OCRA team will drive projects and initiatives that enable OSM to execute their remit more effectively. OSM teams typically manage a range of activities that include:
- Working amongst a team of c.5-10 staff responsible for day-to-day operational activity, working across a wider Operations department of c150 employees.
- Delivering expertise and advice across a portfolio of projects
- The team collectively manage c. 3,300 disbursements and divestments across a Banking portfolio of c. 3,000 operations, with an annual disbursement value of c. Euro 7.7bn
- These projects are subject to c. 2,300 waivers, consents, notices, amendments, prepayment, and cancellations per annum.
- Be involved in supporting the signing of c.350 - 450 projects per annum across a range of products, including debt, trade finance, guarantees, grants, equities and bonds.
- Facilitating c. 40,000 transactional payments p.a. (with c. Euro 16bn equivalent value)
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Data Analytics & Reporting
- Develop, maintain, and deliver high quality dashboards and reports using Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and Tableau.
- Support BAU reporting activities, including daily/weekly/monthly data refreshes and ad hoc MI requests.
- Contribute to the migration of existing Tableau reporting into Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.
- Extract, clean, and transform data from SQL Server, Excel, APIs, and other sources for analysis and reporting.
- Build robust data models and automate recurring reporting processes to support self serve analytics.
- Translate business requirements into meaningful KPIs, visualisations, and data stories for operational and leadership stakeholders.
- Conduct deep-dive analysis to identify trends, anomalies, risks, and opportunities for operational improvement.
- Collaborate with data engineers, IT teams, and business stakeholders to ensure consistent data definitions and metric alignment.
- Ensure accurate and timely delivery of key recurring reports and insights for senior management.
- Identify data quality issues, gaps, or inconsistencies and work with data owners to resolve them.
- Maintain clear, structured documentation for data models, semantic layers, dataflows, and reporting logic.
- Contribute to BI standards, naming conventions, and governance frameworks across the analytics function.
- Support and troubleshoot existing Tableau, Alteryx, SQL, and other legacy analytics workflows during the transition period.
- Conduct proactive analysis to identify process gaps and opportunities for improvement through data-driven insights.
- Undertake data analysis to interpret results and draw conclusions that support operational performance and improvement.
- Continuously develop technical skills and stay current with emerging analytics technologies, particularly within the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem.
Governance & Compliance:
- Maintain and update governance documents such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Drive OSM governance activities, including drafting reports and collating information for Monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews.
- Investigating and analysing risk and control issues.
- Support internal audit with timely and accurate MI
Operational Standards, Risk, Control:
- Be a part of a culture where team members are responsible for the quality of their output, ensuring adherence to established e to quality standards, policies, and legislation.
- Help Support the broader improvement of OSM’s control environment.
- Data reconciliation to validate adherence to operational standards and controls.

- In delivering day-to-day operational activity, conforms to established service levels and standards.

Stakeholder Management:
- Works collaboratively with colleagues to facilitate operational outcomes that adhere to established service levels.

- Proactively works with the Business to identify and manage backlogs, guiding them on prioritisation and, where necessary, conveying wider operational constraints
- Is an ambassador for OSM across other departments by delivering outstanding operational outcomes.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential
- Bachelor’s Degree or record of accomplishment in statistics, mathematics, computer science or related disciplines or equivalent experience.
- Comprehensive Data/Business Analysis Experience including in a financial institution.
- Proficiency in MS Fabric & Power BI and Tableau for building interactive dashboards.
- Strong SQL skills; experience working relational databases (e.g, SQL Server)
- Migrate legacy transformation processes from Alteryx to Microsoft Fabric.
- Build, schedule, and monitor metadata-driven data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows using Fabric Data Factory and Notebooks (PySpark/Spark SQL).
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Good understanding of data modelling, data warehousing concepts, ETL concepts, data governance, data quality, and metadata management.
- High Proficiency in MS Office Suite Products – Specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with scripting languages (Python and VBA, etc).
- Proven strong experience in data inquiry and MI production.
- Experience in optimizing and automating reports as well as reviewing, evaluating and summarizing information.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Self-starter, proactive and collaborative approach to analysing and solving problems.
- Strong collaborator with keen attention to detail and the ability to organise, multitask and prioritise effectively to meet deadlines and ability to cope well under pressure.
- Experience in statistical analytics, undertaking data manipulation of datasets through use of scripting languages, with a willingness to learn new languages.
- Excellent organisational skills, initiative-taking and flexible attitude to work essential.
- Uses analysis and communicates it in a relevant, concise, and effective manner, using excellent presentation skills.
- Demonstrated experience of working in project teams operating in fast paced, unstructured environments with high levels of ambiguity.
