Your role
- Establishing and maintaining active and effective relations with science journalists, science communications professionals, and local partners in Grenoble, the region, and across France
- Identifying, producing and editing high-quality content in both English and French for multiple channels (media, social media, website, intranet)
- Organising local media events, press visits and tours, often in collaboration with local partners, and supporting EMBL Grenoble staff through media briefings and trainings
- Contributing to the site’s engagement with key stakeholders through targeted communications activities
- Identifying and maintaining local, regional and national partnerships that support the visibility and activities of the site
- Monitoring, analysing and evaluating the impact of EMBL’s media coverage and content performance in collaboration with the wider Communications team
- Ensuring effective flow of information between the Communications team based in Heidelberg and the EMBL Grenoble site, including working closely with the Internal Communications Officer to deliver internal communications at Grenoble in alignment with the overall internal communications strategy
You have
- Higher education with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a communications and/or media-relations role, ideally in a science-based environment
- A diverse content portfolio and connections to mainstream journalists
- Experience working with social media, including analytics and reporting
- An excellent command of spoken and written English and French
- A proactive, open and professional attitude
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Strong organisational, time management and priority-setting skills
- The ability to work independently and to deliver varied activities as a member of a hybrid team
- A passion for science and the ability to communicate confidently and clearly about complex topics
You may also have
• Experience working in an international environment
• Knowledge of the scientific and political landscape in Grenoble and France
• Experience in event organisation
• Knowledge of other languages besides French and English, particularly German, Italian and/or Spanish
Contract length:
Three years with the possibility of renewal up to nine years
Salary:
Grading: 5.0 (monthly salary starting at €3.505,29 after tax) + other paid benefits based on personal circumstances
