Your team
Within the Network Management Directorate, the Technology division develops and maintains NMD’s mission-critical systems, including all airspace network management operational systems, the related communications facilities and technical infrastructure. It supports the Agency's IT solutions and services.
Your role
Your role will be to:
- Provide technical expertise, guidance and coordination on architecture activities related to cloud technologies within the Technology (TEC) domain, ensuring consistency with enterprise architecture principles, technology transformation objectives, and TEC architectural practices.
- Develop cloud architecture roadmaps, define and implement cloud migration strategies and plans, in line with the TEC I&T strategy and transformation plans.
- Collaborate with IT architects, IT operations, Information Security and external service providers to support architectural decisions to design, build and deploy cloud service solutions using modern technologies and enterprise standards to ensure technical soundness.
- Participate to the cloud governance, coordinate the interactions and ensure their integration within TEC architecture governance for adherence to architecture standards, security practices, and compliance expectations.
- Analyse technical requirements, constraints, and problems, translating them into practical, fit‑for‑purpose cloud technology solutions that address business needs while optimising performance and security.
- Promote awareness of cloud technologies and service offerings, facilitate adoption of cloud computing.
- Research and assess new cloud service offerings and emerging cloud‑computing technologies, providing subject‑matter expertise regarding cloud trends, technology, tools and services.
- Develop and maintain the technical documentation, including cloud-related standards, processes, reference materials, and architectural guidelines.
- Stay updated on the latest technological developments best practices and share them within the internal community to enhance organizational knowledge.
- Carry out any other task in line with the main purpose of the job.
Required qualifications, experience & competencies
- Candidates must meet one of the following educational and professional experience requirements:
- Completion of third level studies meeting European Qualifications Framework (EQF) level 7 followed by a minimum of 5 years relevant professional experience.
- Completion of third level studies meeting European Qualifications Framework (EQF) level 6 followed by a minimum of 6 years relevant professional experience.
- Internal candidates can check on the intranet to see what level of in-house experience is considered equivalent to educational qualifications where appropriate.
- Microsoft AZURE Cloud Certification is required.
- Cloud Architect credentials such as AWS or Microsoft Azure Solution Architect would be an asset.
- Hands-on experience with cloud computing, virtualization and containerization technologies.
- Experience with designing and implementing cloud architectures on major Cloud platforms including hybrid cloud patterns.
- Knowledge of automation and DevOPS methodologies.
- Knowledge of fundamental networking, security, systems engineering concepts, cloud architecture frameworks and best practices.
- Understanding of infrastructure as code solutions, cloud provisioning and automation tools.
- Familiarity with cloud compliance and regulatory frameworks.
- Technical writing skills (English).

- The working languages of the Agency are English and French. For this particular job, candidates must be proficient users of English at level C1. The selected candidate will be required to become basic users at level A1 of French before the end of the probation period. The levels relate to the European-framework-reference Common European Framework of References for languages (CEFR).

- The selected candidate will be appointed for a period of 5 Years in accordance with the Staff Regulations governing officials at EUROCONTROL. Internal staff with an undetermined appointment will keep their current type of appointment duration.
- Renewal(s): This appointment may be renewed several times, but its total duration, including all renewal periods, may not exceed nine (9) years.
- Conversion: Conversion to an undetermined duration appointment is possible where all of the following cumulative conditions are met: the post is confirmed as being of a lasting nature; the staff member has completed at least five years of service; the staff member’s performance has been satisfactory; and the conversion is in the interests of the service. Conversion is therefore not automatic.
- The selected candidate must successfully complete a probationary period of nine (9) months before being established in the post.
- The selected candidate shall be appointed at the grade set out in this vacancy notice, or if a group of grades has been published for a job level, in principle at the basic grade of the published job level.
- Candidates declared suitable who are not selected for the post will be placed on a reserve list for similar roles. The reserve list will be valid for one year from the closing date of applications.
