Position Summary
The Construction Coordinator will oversee and coordinate large-scale construction and infrastructure projects supported by CBM, ensuring quality, compliance, cost control, and timely delivery. The role requires strong technical expertise, contract management capacity, and the ability to work collaboratively with contractors, consultants, government authorities, and implementing partners.
This position is critical in safeguarding CBM’s investment in infrastructure and ensuring that projects meet accessibility, safety, and regulatory standards.
These are your responsibilities
1. Project Oversight & Coordination
- Oversee planning, design review, and implementation of major construction projects (e.g., hospitals, schools, rehabilitation centres).
- Ensure works are executed according to approved drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Monitor construction progress against timelines and budgets.
- Coordinate between contractors, supervising consultants, partners, and CBM programme teams.
2. Contract & Compliance Management
- Review and advise on construction contracts and Bills of Quantities (BoQs).
- Ensure compliance with Zambian building regulations and statutory requirements.
- Monitor adherence to occupational health and safety standards.
- Ensure projects integrate disability-inclusive and universal access standards.
3. Financial & Risk Management
- Review payment certificates and verify completed works.
- Monitor cost variations and advise management on financial implications.
- Identify construction risks and propose mitigation measures.
- Support internal and external audits related to construction projects.
4. Quality Assurance
- Conduct regular site inspections and produce detailed technical reports.
- Ensure materials and workmanship meet required standards.
- Verify completion certificates and handover processes.
5. Stakeholder Engagement
- Liaise with Government ministries, local authorities, and regulatory bodies.
- Engage engineers, architects, quantity surveyors, and contractors.
- Provide technical updates to senior management and donors.
These are your qualifications:
Education
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering,Architecture, or related field (Master’s Degree is an added advantage).
• Registered member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) or relevant professional body.
Experience
• Minimum 8–10 years of progressive experience in managing large-scale construction projects.
• Proven experience overseeing complex infrastructure projects (e.g., hospitals, institutional buildings, or public facilities).
• Experience working with NGOs, donor-funded projects, or public-sector construction is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of FIDIC or similar construction contract frameworks.
Technical Competencies
• Strong understanding of structural, architectural, and MEP systems.
• Experience in cost control and contract administration.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency in project management tools and MS Office.
• Knowledge of universal design and accessibility standards.
Personal Competencies

• Excellent communication and reporting skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple sites.
