The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB/the Bank) is seeking to recruit an Intern, Integrity, Compliance and Accountability (ICA). 

THE DEPARTMENT

ICA is an independent office within the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB or the Bank) responsible for promoting integrity, investigating misconduct, and ensuring compliance with international best practices. ICA’s five core functions include:

  • Institutional Integrity: Detecting, preventing, and investigating fraud, corruption, collusion, coercion, and other violations.
  • Ethics: Enforcing the Bank’s Code of Conduct and ethical standards.
  • Compliance: Ensuring adherence to anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing regulations.
  • Accountability: Handling citizen complaints regarding environmental and social impacts of Bank-funded projects.
  • Whistleblowing: Managing a secure whistleblower system and ensuring protection from retaliation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducting research and benchmarking to support updates to ICA’s policies, procedures and operations ensuring that they align with international best practice as consistent with the risks, resources, needs and operating environment of the Bank;
  • Assisting with the improvement and rollout of ICA’s outreach, training and awareness tools and campaigns;
  • Leveraging approved digital tools and technology including the use of responsible artificial intelligence (AI) to strengthen ICA’s efficiency, research, communications, data handling and data organization;
  • Assisting with the creation of the Caribbean Youth Anticorruption Working Group and the Caribbean Youth Anti-corruption Toolkit;
  • Assisting with conducting due diligence and risk surveillance;
  • Assisting with the preparation for and/or attendance at meetings, conferences and outreach events related to ICA’s work including to increase proactively, the visibility of ICA and its ability to collaborate and work with other stakeholders for the benefit of the Bank and its members;
  • Assisting with improvement of ICA’s webpage and communications (both internally and externally), ensuring that the information posted is timely, accurate, relevant and user friendly;
  • Providing high-quality and reliable support to the daily operations of the office; and
  • Conducting any activity or manage any other tasks related to the work of ICA as designated or delegated by the Head (Ag.), ICA.

REPORTING REQUIREMENTS

The ICA Intern will report to the ICA Officer and the Head (Ag.), ICA.

EDUCATION

Currently enrolled or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master's programme, in an accredited tertiary level educational institution, preferably in law, business administration, international relations, public policy, international studies, or governance; 

or a recent graduate from at a minimum, a Bachelor’s programme (not more than 12 months).

COMPETENCIES

  • have strong research and analytical skills;
  • have excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to clearly and concisely prepare, present, discuss and defend issues, findings and recommendations to the Head (Ag.), ICA and to produce briefs, reports and papers to assist the Head (Ag.), ICA;
  • be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly;
  • have high ethical standards and an uncompromising sense of integrity, professionalism, personal responsibility, ambition and accountability;
  • be attentive to details and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills;
  • be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), familiarity with data visualization tools is an asset; and
  • demonstrate strong critical thinking skills.

LOCATION,  DURATION AND TIMING

The assignment will be based at CDB’s headquarters in St. Michael, Barbados over a 3-month period commencing on June 1, 2026 and ending on August 31, 2026.
