The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB/the Bank) is seeking to recruit an Intern, Secretariat.
THE SECRETARIAT
The Secretariat provides the full range of secretarial services to the Bank, to ensure that CDB carries out its governance requirements in compliance with its Charter and Bylaws. The Secretariat is accountable for the planning, execution and management of all meetings of the Board of Governors and Board of Directors, in addition to overseeing the meetings of the Committees of the Boards (the Boards) to ensure the activities of the constituent entities are conducted in accordance with existing policies, rules and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supporting communication activities between the Secretariat and its stakeholders i.e. members of the Boards, Board sub-committees and CDB staff;
- Working proactively with the other members of the Secretariat to identify opportunities for sharing knowledge and disseminating information about matters of concern to the Boards and staff;
- Assisting with content updates for the Board portal;
- Assisting with updating and managing the Secretariat’s electronic document management and archival system;
- Developing innovative ways to increase the visibility and highlight the work of the Secretariat among relevant audiences;
- Contributing to the preparation and dissemination of necessary documents, including Board Papers and Board minutes; and
- Assisting with such other work-related duties as requested by the Bank Secretary.
REPORTING REQUIREMENTS
The Intern will report to the Bank Secretary.
EDUCATION
Currently pursuing, at a minimum, a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme in an accredited tertiary level educational institution or a recent graduate from at a minimum, a Bachelor’s programme (not more than 12 months).
COMPETENCIES
The Intern should demonstrate strong proficiency in the following competencies:
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently, as well as on a team.
- Proven writing and editing skills in English, with an ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and simple manner;
- Sound knowledge of computer software including MS Word, MS Teams, Powerpoint; and
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment and a strong team-working capacity.
LOCATION, DURATION AND TIMING
The assignment will be based at CDB’s headquarters in St. Michael, Barbados over a 3-month period commencing on June 1, 2026 and ending on August 31, 2026.
