The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB/the Bank) is seeking to recruit an Intern, Strategy and Development Effectiveness Department. 

THE DEPARTMENT

The Strategy and Development Effectiveness Department (SDED) is responsible for coordinating the preparation of and reporting on the Strategic Plan of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB/the Bank), as well as preparing the annual Work Programme and Budget (WPB), both in collaboration with other Departments of the Bank.

SDED administers and monitors the allocation of financial resources to projects and programmes financed by the Bank and disseminates information on resource availability and use.  It provides management with technical support on resource mobilisation and coordinates the exercises for replenishment of the Bank’s main concessionary funding operation, its Special Development Fund (SDF).

SDED leads in the design and implementation of CDB’s Managing for Development Results (MfDR) Agenda; maintains the Bank’s overall Results Monitoring Framework and a comprehensive set of statistical data on CDB’s performance.  CDB networks with other development partners and experts to share best practices on MfDR and to promote mutual learning and coordination.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategic Plan:  Helping to develop material to support external communication of the Strategic Plan 2026-2025, which will have been approved in February.
  • SDF: Supporting for creating ‘impact stories’ that highlight the development impact of projects funded by SDF.  This is to support the case for additional funding.
  • Funds Management: Assisting with the development of a system to increase the oversight and transparency of the CDB’s Other Special Funds (OSF).
  • WPB:  Assessing proposed 2027 work programmes of individual teams to ensure alignment with the Bank’s strategic direction.  Supporting compilation of project pipeline.  Supporting the development of the draft WPB document.
  • Portfolio and results monitoring: Ensuring that project data are up-to-date, and tracking progress on portfolio monitoring recommendations.

REPORTING REQUIREMENTS

Reporting to the Deputy Director (Ag.), or a delegated official.

EDUCATION

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme in Mathematics, Economics; Economic Development; Business Studies or a related discipline, at an accredited tertiary level educational institution; or a recent graduate from at a minimum, a Bachelor’s programme in any of these related fields (not more than 12 months).

LOCATION, DURATION AND TIMING

The assignment will be based at CDB’s headquarters in St. Michael, Barbados over a 3-month period commencing on June 1, 2026 and ending on August 31, 2026.
