The Office of Independent Evaluation (OIE) is an independent office of the Bank, reporting to the Board of Directors through the Development Effectiveness Committee (DEC). It has a mandate to evaluate the Caribbean Development Bank’s (CDB) development performance, assessing outcomes and impact in Borrowing Member Countries (BMCs). The main products are country strategy programme, thematic, policy, and corporate process evaluations, as well as validation of Project Completion Reports prepared by the Operations Department. The work of OIE contributes to learning lessons for the improvement of the Bank’s operations and policies, the sharing of evaluative knowledge, and fostering networks of Caribbean evaluators, including through related conferences or events.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supporting the organization, content, and sessions of the CEW on topics of relevance for CDB and the Caribbean, exposing the intern to a key CDB event and a large and diverse professional network.
  • This will include support to the final phases of the organization of the event, logistics, compiling and synthesizing conference papers and documents, and limited administrative tasks for the event.
  • Delivering a research study about the effectiveness and outcomes of capacity building events and actions (CEW, EVALAC, the Centre for Learning in Evaluation and Results in Latin America and the Caribbean (CLEAR-LAC) supported or promoted by OIE for evaluators in the Caribbean (design the approach, conduct the research, analyze the information, and draft a report).

REPORTINGREQUIREMENTS

The intern will report overall to the Head of Evaluation, and on a day-to-day basis to the OIE staff assigned to organizing the CEW and the related study, and the Evaluation, Research, and Knowledge Management Assistant. By delivering on the above, the intern will contribute to implementing OIE’s 2026 work Programme.
