POSITION SUMMARY

The Outreach Senior Assistant will play a central role in strengthening the communication, visibility, and strategic positioning of the EU-funded global “Finance for Forests” (F4F) program across Lao PDR, Mongolia, Colombia, and Guyana.

The Outreach Senior Assistant will support the development and execution of audience-centric outreach strategies, high-impact communication campaigns, and knowledge-sharing platforms that enhance F4F’s visibility, credibility, and influence at national, regional, and Brussels levels.

The role will contribute to ensuring that F4F is recognized as a leading initiative on forest finance innovation, including through strategic engagement with EU Global Gateway partners, development finance institutions, government counterparts, and relevant forest governance and finance networks.

The Outreach Senior Assistant will contribute to the design and implementation of impactful audience-focused outreach and knowledge-sharing initiatives, effectively engaging stakeholders and promoting project results and lessons learned both internally and externally through creative and innovative approaches.

At a strategic level, the Outreach Senior Assistant will report to the F4F Program Manager (based in Brussels) and the Head of the GGGI Lao PDR Communication and Knowledge Sharing Unit and , with close supervision of the Lao PDR F4F program lead, and engagement with GGGI country F4F teams in Mongolia, Colombia, Guyana.

PURPOSE
  • Support design and implementation of strategic communication and visibility plan contributing to position F4F as a flagship EU-GGGI forest finance initiative across target countries.
  • Assist in development of targeted approaches to strengthen engagement with government, private sector, civil society, finance institutions, development partners, and community-oriented stakeholders relevant to forest governance and forest finance value chains.
  • Support the systematic documentation and promotion of F4F results, success stories, innovative instruments, and lessons learned.
  • Support strategic engagement with networks and platforms to amplify F4F’s presence on national, regional, and Brussels‑based outreach and partnership platforms, including EU Global Gateway networks.
  • Assist in development of knowledge exchanges and dissemination of best practices across GGGI’s Sustainable Landscapes, Sustainable Finance, and Green Investment communities of practice.
  • Support design and coordination of successful workshops and knowledge sharing events and national social media campaigns.
ENGAGEMENT
  • Coordinate closely with the F4F Project Manager and country teams to align outreach activities with program milestones, ensuring timely and strategic communication of results.
  • Support engagement with EU Global Gateway partners and other relevant outreach networks to enhance F4F program visibility. Work with GGGI country and regional communication and knowledge‑sharing teams in co‑creating and delivering impactful outreach and knowledge‑sharing initiatives, including amplifying success stories internally and externally.
  • Support engagement with media outlets, knowledge platforms and external partners to raise awareness of forest‑related issues and F4F program activities.
  • Support engagement with media outlets to raise the visibility of the NATURA project and GGGI Lao PDR.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to gather information and insights for communication purposes.
DELIVERY
  • Develop high-quality outreach products (factsheets, impact stories, policy briefs, infographics, videos, social media campaigns) that clearly articulate F4F’s value proposition and results.
  • Develop or coordinate social media campaigns across the four countries to ensure consistent messaging and a recognizable F4F identity.
  • Support development of stakeholder outreach strategies across the four F4F target countries, and for the project as a whole.
  • Support development of tailored stakeholder‑focused outreach materials for government, civil society, private sector, finance institutions, and community groups.
  • Assist in identification and engagement with key national, regional, and EU-relevant forest governance, forest finance, and forest-value chains outreach platforms;
  • Assist with the design and delivery of workshops, knowledge‑sharing events, and engagement activities across the four F4F target countries.
  • Support regular updating of digital platforms, including social media channels, to ensure consistent and visible program messaging.
  • Assist in documenting engagement activities by taking photos, capturing interviews, and recording event outcomes.
  • Support adherence to EU and GGGI branding and messaging guidelines in all outreach materials.
  • Contribute to production of high-quality visual and multimedia documentation of F4F activities, including interviews, short videos, and impact storytelling.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least an undergraduate (bachelor) degree in communications, journalism, or related fields such publishing, humanities, literature.
  • At least two years of professional experience in communications, social media, media engagement or design preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office;
  • Active usage and knowledge of diverse various social media platforms, used in Laos, and across Asia, Latin America and by European Union Global Gateway partners. · Good skill level with the Adobe Creative Cloud tools (especially Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) preferred
  • Experience in designing professional communications, social media posts, layout of technical publications, design of infographics, videos, communication materials, and others.
  • Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of and experience in engaging with national and/or regional knowledge networks and engagement platforms related to forest governance, rural livelihoods, climate change.
  • Excellent English-language writing and speaking skills are required; additional language skills in Lao, Spanish or French advantageous.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and have a flexible approach to tasks given.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The Outreach Senior Assistant, GGGI Lao PDR is an X5 grade level in GGGI salary scale. Determination of base salary is subject to candidate's experience, academic background and internal equity. GGGI provides 15% of base salary towards retirement plan/long-term savings, 27 days of annual leave, and private health insurance that covers dental and vision. This is a national position and does not include relocation benefits.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

GGGI is implementing the Financing for Forests (F4F) programme, which aims to enhance forest finance ecosystems in Lao PDR, Mongolia, Guyana, and Colombia over five years by piloting and scaling innovative financing instruments and strengthening the enabling environment for sustainable forest investment, and which is expected to expand to 4 additional countries. While this is a global program the Engagement Assistant will work within GGGI Lao PDR’s Communication and Knowledge Sharing Unit in developing outreach strategies and delivering or disseminating outputs requiring video production; project brochures and factsheets; publication design, layout and printing; social media engagement and press and media relations and publication.
