About this Position
Management and monitoring of a portfolio of guarantees and non-sovereign loans to corporate entities and special purpose vehicles created to develop productive investment projects. The assigned project portfolio will be mainly located in countries of the Southern Cone region, in sectors such as agribusiness, telecommunications, hospitality, and manufacturing, depending on the experience, profile, and geographic location of the Portfolio Management Officer/Senior Associate.
The monitoring of transactions will require periodic and ad hoc analysis of the financial performance of counterparties and review of loan documentation to ensure compliance with the contractual obligations assumed by clients. The Portfolio Management Officer/Senior Associate is the primary point of contact for the transactions assigned to them and is responsible for identifying contractual breaches and operational risks, proposing solutions to resolve such breaches, managing identified risks, to ensure the stability and soundness of BID Invest’s loan and guarantee portfolio. Additionally, they are expected to collaborate in identifying new investment opportunities with existing clients.
What You'll Do
- Work independently and with other members of the Division in supervising and monitoring a portfolio of loans and guarantees with corporate counterparties.
- Obtain and analyze information to assess the counterparties’ ability to comply with financing agreements and propose measures to mitigate risks.
- Analyze financial statements and financial projections of clients in their charge, prepare risk rating proposals and periodic supervision reports to measure credit risk and the contribution and development impact of the portfolio under their responsibility.
- Evaluate the status/situations affecting loans and guarantees and, when necessary, disseminate information and prepare recommendations to take appropriate measures and define next steps.
- Maintain close relationships with borrowers, borrowers’ shareholders, B and C lenders, as well as with agents and internal counterparts.
- Perform monitoring visits and coordinate project supervision with the Risk, Legal, Environmental, Development Impact, and Finance departments, among others.
- Stay informed about developments in relevant sectors, news, and material events that may affect the performance of the credit portfolio.
- Prepare and share lessons learned from projects in the portfolio. Contribute to the development of appropriate indicators for development effectiveness.
- Propose and support actions to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of internal processes.
- Evaluate and process waiver and amendment requests to main loan contracts.
- Support the Portfolio Management Division in all required tasks.
What You'll Need
Officer Position:
- Education: Master’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Business Administration, or its equivalent in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering, or other relevant fields.
- Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of relevant professional experience in credit evaluation and/or rating of corporate and/or project finance counterparties, preferably acquired at a bank, financial institution, and/or rating agency; alternatively in the management and financial planning of a company.
- Languages: Proficiency in English and Spanish, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Portuguese is a plus.
Senior Associate Position:
- Education: Master’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Business Administration, or its equivalent in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering, or other relevant fields.
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience in credit evaluation and/or rating of corporate and/or project finance counterparties, preferably acquired at a bank, financial institution, and/or rating agency; alternatively in the management and financial planning of a company.
- Languages: Proficiency in English and Spanish, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Portuguese is a plus.
Requirements
- Citizenship: Must be eligible to work in job location without the need for sponsorship.
- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
Type of Contract and Duration
National staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
