The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral, and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance. The ICRC is mandated to work in countries affected by armed conflict or other situations of violence. The ICRC is present in over 100 countries and has some 18,000 staff worldwide. In 2014, the ICRC expanded its presence in Ukraine. Currently, we have over 900 team members working across the county in various professional fields.

ABOUT THE JOB

The Water and Habitat Department is seeking a highly capable Administrative Assistant to join our team in Kharkiv. Administrative Assistant helps the team plan and implement engineering projects in line with the ICRC’s water and habitat objectives, under the supervision of the Head of Department. This role is responsible for preparing and organizing documents to ensure they are completed correctly and on time.

Start date: April 2026

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform various office work which requires computer knowledge and secretarial skills
  • Provide general administrative support to the Water and Habitat Team
  • Translate from one or more languages into English, Ukrainian or Russian, and vice versa
  • Contribute to the department reporting in coordination with the Team Leader
  • Prepare the contract package based on the documents provided by the engineers
  • Ensure information flow within the Department / Sub-Delegation
  • Create and maintain paper or electronic files up-to-date, as well as ICRC tools
  • Is aware of the delegation’s objectives and has a good knowledge of the Movement

ABOUT YOU

To be successful as an Administrative Assistant in the WatHab Department, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics: 

    • Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
    • High school diploma or equivalent training
    • Fluent command of English, Ukrainian and Russian
    • Technical background as an asset
    • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite, SharePoint
    • Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
    • Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
    • Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
    • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
    • Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
