About this position

The Office of Strategy, Knowledge and Synergies (SPK) implements strategic priorities at IDB Invest by coordinating with different departments, developing strategic direction, and creating knowledge solutions. It generates country/sector-focused knowledge and leads efforts to make IDB Invest a knowledge-driven institution. The office coordinates and monitors IDB Invest’s synergies with the rest of the IDB Group. Lastly, the office coordinates IDB Invest’s institutional relationships with other partners in the development community.

This position provides technical, analytical, and coordination support to SPK to advance strategic planning and corporate matters, institutional reporting, team development activities, and strategic initiatives across IDB Invest.

What you’ll do

  • Support with Board Documents, Board Engagement and OVE:
    • Coordinate translation, and timely distribution of documents to the Board of Executive Directors.
    • Support the organization and scheduling of preparation meetings with Executive Directors.
    • Support Board data access related initiatives.
    • Provide assistance with the coordination of the agendas of the two IDB Invest’s Board Committees.
    • Support monitoring and reporting activities, including quarterly Board reports and progress updates on Roadmaps.
    • Support OVE review cycles.
  • Team Development and Engagement:
    • Support the Managing Director in the development of the Engagement Improvement Plan for the Division.
    • Lead the design and implementation of team development activities aimed at strengthening collaboration and engagement.
  • Strategy Articulation and Document Preparation:
    • Prepare background materials, debrief notes from meetings, presentations, and briefings.
    • Contribute to the drafting and editorial review of strategy documents.
    • Provide support in coordinating meetings, note taking and follow-ups.
    • Support the development of key strategic initiatives.
    • Perform data analysis and visualizations to support internal discussion and strategic documents elaboration.
  • Support SPK’s Managing Director agenda and meeting preparation as needed 

What you'll need

  • Master’s degree in business administration, economics, international development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience in strategy, management consulting, or development finance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work and integrate into changing project teams, get up to speed with new topics quickly and carry out analysis with minimal supervision. 
  • Experience in private sector and development, with exposure to Emerging and Development Markets is highly valued. 
  • Experience in data visualization tools is a plus.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required.

Type of contract and duration

International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
