About this position

We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and experienced consultant in the health sector of The Bahamas. As Bahamas Health Operations Consultant you will support the IDB team leader in dialogue and planning of all activities to supervise the execution of the health portfolio in the country.

You will work in the Health, Nutrition and Population Division of the Social Department (HNP/SCL). This team is responsible for the development of programs and policies that increase health and wellbeing and decrease morbidity and mortality throughout the region of Latin America and The Caribbean.

What you’ll do

  • Support the IDB Team Leader in the daily interactions with the Project Executing Unit (PEU) of the MOHW, IDB specialists from the Health Nutrition and Population Division (SCL/HNP) and the Country Office Bahamas (CBH/CCB)
  • Aid in the development of monitoring tools used by IDB such as Project Monitoring Report, Project Conclusion Report, Supervision Plans, among others.
  • Collaborate in planning activities and participate and conduct field visits when required.
  • Carry out reviews of planning documents such as the Annual Operating Plans, Pluriannual Execution Plans, Procurement Plans, Financial Plans, among others.
  • Support the development of terms of reference and other documents used in contracting.
  • Provide technical and managerial advice for the health portfolio’s supervision.
  • Actively contribute to strategic discussions and updates with partners and stakeholders, in coordination with the Team Leader.
  • Support any other activity related to the heath sector in The Bahamas that is required by HNP/SCL and the Country Office.

 

What you'll need

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in public health, medicine, health economics, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of progressive experience in large scale project monitoring and/or execution of health programs.
  • Languages: Proficiency in English.

  • You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. Must be eligible to work in job location(s) without the need for sponsorship.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
     

Type of contract and duration

National consultant Full-Time, 12 months (up to 48 months, subject to eligibility).
