About the job 

Under the line management of the Protection Manager for Algeria, Libya and Tunisia, the Protection analysis specialist will be responsible to lead the analysis of the DRC ALT and partners’ protection quantitative and qualitative data to develop both narrative reports as well as visual representations of data. In collaboration with the Protection manager and partners will support the development of data collection tools, advise on methodologies, conduct desk research and data analysis as needed and draft the required outputs.  

As a key member of the protection program team the Protection analysis specialist will also support program development and fundraising efforts as needed. 

Your main duties and responsibilities will be: 

Data Collection and Analysis 

  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative data analysis for DRC ALT: 
  • In coordination with the Protection manager ALT and relevant technical focal points of DRC’s partners develop data collection methodologies and tools including sampling strategies, interview guides and quantitative modules 
  • Taking the lead on coding and labelling variables to be used in qualitative analysis,  
  • Analyze quantitative data from DRC’s protection monitoring and other initiatives;  
  • Develop narrative reports focusing on the ongoing monitoring of trends and lead the visualization of quantitative and qualitative data, including the development of infographics in close collaboration with the IM specialist.  
  • Collect and store relevant information from secondary resources that could contribute to protection analysis.  
  • Regularly contribute to the production of internal briefing notes, Snapshots and ad hoc reports 

Other 

  • Train relevant DRC partners staff on data collection methodologies and tools 
  • Support fundraising as needed by providing inputs to concept notes and proposals  
  • Support the team with any other tasks related to the running of protection programming 

About you 

To be successful in this role we expect you to have at least 3 years of experience working in research or academic context. Moreover, we also expect the following:  

Required  

  • Demonstrated experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis is essential; 
  • In depth understanding of protection in humanitarian settings is essential 
  • Experience in creating information management products is expected 

Desirable 

  • Demonstrated experience authoring research products and outputs is an asset; 
  • Demonstrated experience using qualitative analysis software would be an asset; 
  • Demonstrated understanding of current mixed migration debates and dynamics in the region is an asset; 
  • Previous experience working with international NGOs is an asset.
